Walker Filtration was acquired by the Atlas Copco group in March 2018 and has the mission to become the Global Competence Centre for Compressed air, Gas and Vacuum Filtration within the group. Walker Filtration has its factory and headquarters in the North of England but employs around 300 people worldwide with Customer centres in the United States, Germany, Italy, France, China and Japan.
Part of the strategy is to further develop our presence in key global markets through development of the compressed air and gas treatment aftermarket. We are searching for a Business Development Manager to help drive and support this activity.
The successful applicant will join a dynamic team with high growth ambition during an exciting period in the company’s history as we look to expand our activity further into the compressed air and gas sector. There is a particular focus on service parts and other consumable items as well as extending the scope of products offered. It is an opportunity for someone to make a significant difference and help realise the full potential of Walker Filtration Limited.
This strategic role is customer facing. A high degree of professional and personal conduct and presentation is required. The role reports directly to the Head of Commercial of Walker Filtration in the United Kingdom and will be actively involved in developing the strategic direction to rapidly accelerate sales growth.
The primary focus of the role is to help identify and convert new business opportunities through distribution and other market channels. Close collaboration with the Regional Sales, Marketing and Product Management Teams is essential. It is anticipated the role will require a large degree of international travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and target new, strategically important, high-value customers, partnerships, or routes to market in the target market segments and applications
- Take responsibility for strategy definition and implementation. Understand which market strategies can be used to attract clients, increase market share, and maximise profitability
- Understand the target markets
- Drive market awareness and demand generation activities; working closely with the Marketing Manager, to create campaigns, promotions and thought leadership material, to position Walker Filtration as an authority in our target industries
- Preparing and presenting customer proposals, product presentations and related sales enablement material
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and marketing teams to ensure that the product portfolio meets the requirements of the target markets
- Follow the latest industry developments and stay up to date on corporate competitors
- Provide reports as necessary to the senior management team, to include updates on sales activity, competitor activity & general market intelligence
- Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills
- Adhere to health and safety policy and other requirements relating to care of equipment
Experience
- Proven track record in a B2B sales / product management / marketing role
- Experience in the Compressed Air/Gas or Industrial Filtration sectors is essential
- Experience of other business areas would also be an advantage
Professional Requirements
- High calibre, degree (or equivalent) qualified. Ideally in a business, marketing, engineering discipline
- IT Fluency - comfortable with digital technology, e.g., MS Project, PowerPoint, CRM, digital communication platforms and statistical analysis software
