The Role

The Sales Director will develop, manage, grow, and lead a team of Direct Sales Reps, Business Development/Renewal Rep, and Partnership Development Rep teams to achieve successful sales growth. This role is a strategic leader on the Inside Sales team at Capstone and will drive new growth and maintain renewal customers to align to overall company goals.

This role will manage budgets and develop and monitor commission plans. The Sales Director at Capstone will hire, train, and promote continuous self-improvement with staff.

Our preference is for this role to be based out of either our Edina, MN or North Mankato, MN office locations. Most employees work a hybrid schedule with some days per week working from home. Fully remote work for this role may be considered.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Managerial

  1. Sales team leadership and staff management including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, coaching, problem solving, and disciplinary actions.
  2. Conduct weekly sales department meetings, coordinating regular team building activities, administer contests, and celebrate successes.
  3. Develop, implement, and monitor sales commission plans.
  4. Develop and manage budgets; approve expense reports and department purchases.
  5. Stay in touch with sales trends in the marketplace and develop sales strategies to address any issues.
  6. Develop customer and rep training modules for products and services.
  7. Develop and implement a strategic plan for sales growth.
  8. Manage new product and service initiatives by enhancing process development.

Collaboration & Communication

  1. Coordinate with marketing personnel in planning, execution, and reporting on sales programs. Establish and conduct regular meetings with marketing and inside sales staff.
  2. Work cross-functionally throughout the company in building relationships, problem solving, troubleshooting, and process improvement activities.
  3. Present information to appropriate individuals in marketing, product planning, editorial, and sales leadership regarding competition, needs, and trends.

Sales Support

  1. Support the development of sales reports. Build and consolidate forecasts.
  2. Attend tradeshows and sales meetings as needed and serve as a representative of Capstone.

Education, Experience, and Skills desired:

  1. 4-year degree in business or related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in sales or customer service management. Publishing experience a plus.
  3. Energetic self-starter with a desire to grow the business.
  4. Very organized.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Suite Software.
  6. Must have experience with Salesforce.
  7. Strong attention to detail.
  8. Ability to work with minimal guidance.
  9. Demonstrated analytical thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  10. Ability to prioritize and perform a variety of tasks and assignments simultaneously often with conflicting deadlines.
  11. Ability to foster a strong team environment that encourages career development and continued growth.
  12. Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
  13. Expertise in industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
  14. Ability to effectively lead and direct the work of others.
  15. Demonstrated ability to facilitate change through collaboration – working with people at all levels of the organization.
  16. Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and the mission of the company.

Travel Requirements

Approximately 5-20% travel may be required.
