The responsibilities of the Clinical Director include:

  1. The Clinical Director will supervise all nursing tasks on the unit during his/her shift.
  2. The Clinical Director will supervise, teach, and counsel the unit’s nursing personnel who are providing care to residents during his/her shift.
  3. Making daily rounds on each resident to evaluate needs and effectiveness of nursing care provided, following up on concerns that require further action.
  4. Supervision of the unit’s resident care plans, ensuring that care plans are current and relevant to residents’ needs.
  5. Attending monthly interdisciplinary resident care plan conferences and MD care plans as needed.
  6. Addressing concerns raised by residents’ family members.
  7. Promoting effective communication between unit personnel on all shifts, conferring with other licensed staff regarding unit and resident problems for group problem solving.
  8. Ensuring monthly re-caps/orders are correct for each resident on the unit.
  9. Maintaining a safe environment on the unit, reporting any concerns to the appropriate department head.
  10. Completing nursing staff evaluations for 7-3 shift personnel; providing input on nursing staff evaluations for 3-11 and 11-7 shifts.
  11. Keeping the unit stocked with all necessary supplies, notifying Nursing Administration if supplies and equipment are needed for the unit.
  12. Notifying supervisor of problems or concerns involving supervised employees or with other departments and completing employee communication forms as necessary.
  13. Ensuring daily assignments for all nursing personnel on the unit are completed during each shift and that assignments are done accurately and efficiently.
  14. Responding to any emergency or urgent resident need when called, even if on break.
  15. If a need arises, performing any activity or task that a C.N.A. and/or staff nurse under his/her direction might be required to do.
  16. Reading, understanding, and maintaining easy access to the Nursing Department Policy and Procedure manual.
  17. Attending Team Meetings and any other meetings requested by Nursing Administration.
  18. Maintaining a valid RN license from the State of Indiana at all times.
  19. Full compliance with all aspects of Hooverwood’s Corporate Compliance program and its Code of Conduct.
  20. Maintain attendance in good standing according to attendance policy.
  21. Performing other tasks as assigned by the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, and the Executive Director.
  22. Assessing all referrals for admission to Kraft Commons.
  23. Maintaining the resident assessment schedule for routine and COC.
  24. Maintaining all immunization records and Infection Control records for residents of Kraft Commons.

Qualifications for the Clinical Director:

· Must possess and maintain a RN Degree from an accredited School of Nursing.

· Experience with a geriatric population preferred.

· Previous management experience preferred.

Physical or Mental Functions Required to Perform Job:

The Unit Manager must function effectively under timelines and multiple demands; must be able to fully and effectively communicate orally and have the ability to write or type; must be able to read normal print/script and computer generated type; must have the ability to hear effectively; must have full use of at least one arm and hand; must be ambulatory.

Employee recognizes that the Clinical Director is considered a HIGH RISK- CATEGORY 1 for exposure to blood borne pathogens and is provided the opportunity to receive a 3 shot HBV immunizations series if he/she may wish, immediately upon receipt of the job description.
