Under general supervision of the Senior Executive Director of Information Solutions, the incumbent will actively participate and work in a highly collaborative fashion with the Office of Philanthropy staff to influence job roles and organization structures to drive faster adoption on all systems and business process improvement initiatives through training and change management techniques. The incumbent will execute strategies that support the shared vision of the Preparing Our People initiative. This effort includes supporting the Philanthropy team to realize our goal of excelling as a highly collaborative, efficient, and creative team. The Sr. Business Analyst will help implement a cultural adherence to personal accountability, shared success, and a commitment to professional growth.
Responsibilities:
Specifically, under the direction of the Senior Executive Director, the incumbent will be responsible for understanding Philanthropy’s business domain, documenting its processes and assessing the business model’s integration with technology. This includes developing and maintaining a repository of organizational and tactical objectives, process documentation, department/unit metrics and key performance indicators. Routinely review and analyze business processes, workflow procedures, and job functions to provide insight and suggestions for improvements. Leads and participates in medium to large system related projects to develop a business case during project initiation, identify business needs and develop functional requirements as well as assist in change management strategies for adoption of new systems or system enhancements and upgrades throughout the system’s project life cycle. In addition, create prototypes for system design and develop testing validation requirements for system testing.
Business Analysis:
- Serves as functional and technical consultant on new products, system enhancements and upgrades.
- Maintain repository of organizational and tactical objectives; develop process documentation, department/unit metrics and key performance indicators.
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources; reconcile conflicts; decompose high-level information into details; abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding; and distinguish user requests from underlying true needs.
- Maintain in-depth understanding of stakeholder’s business and program needs, which will allow for proactively offering business process improvements and solutions to improve efficiency.
- Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, tasks and workflow analysis.
- Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.
Project Management:
- Act as project manager for all aspects of individual projects (e.g., solution analysis, user experience design, information architecture and content strategy, front and back-end development, technical implementation, testing and quality assurance), serving as primary point-of-contact to stakeholders for related work.
- Act as liaison with stakeholders and project team members regarding changes to scope and delivery dates, providing regular reports and project dashboards to leadership.
- Establish relationships with stakeholders to determine project requirements, and create proposals that reconcile stakeholder requirements with service scope and ensure proper setting of expectations (e.g., project goals, scope, participant responsibilities, delivery dates, and governance).
- Develop detailed project work plans, timelines and budget (if applicable). Maintain project assignments, monitor workloads, and resources to meet project requirements. Frequently reassess project scope to ensure projects are carried out according to established plan and budget.
- Strong influence skills to align with stakeholders’ practices (project management, risk management, etc.), strategies (metrics, goals, outcomes, strategic priorities), and utilizing tactics (negotiation skills, triple constraint, business relationship management principles).
Product Management:
- Responsible for design, implementation and on-going management of the City of Hope Philanthropy program utilizing a variety of systems to build brand awareness and advocacy generating platforms to engage prospects, donors and advocates for City of Hope.
- Managing project interdependencies for various Philanthropy systems to optimize their delivery and make the most efficient use of resources and to improve adoption and communications.
- Maintain high-level City of Hope enterprise system knowledge and expertise to serve as the primary Philanthropy point of contact for technical or functional requirements.
- Maintain high-level Philanthropy industry knowledge and product expertise to assist in supporting Office of Philanthropy fundraising programmatic needs.
- Other duties as Assigned.
Your qualifications should include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science or related discipline.
- Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
- 5+ years of business analysis or consulting experience with Non-Profit organizations. 5+ years of project management or consulting experience. 5+ years of experience in Use Case diagramming, Business Process Mapping, Sequence and Activity diagramming, and UML required.
- Project lead responsibilities for at least two (2) large multi-user system implementations.
