Job Description

The successful candidate is an enviable leader real estate expert who will ensure all employees have a safe and engaging work environment where they are able to collaborate to successfully bring our products to market. This includes playing a key role in shaping the future of work and is responsible for leading the development of Western Digital’s real estate portfolio strategy to satisfy increasingly complex and expanding business and employee needs.

The emphasis for this role will be on building a high-performing team who will implement a shared vision for the growth and sustenance of facilities and the safe operation within them. That vision will incorporate advanced facility planning, site selection, execution of capital expenditure projects, site maintenance and operations, EHS (Employee Health & Safety) and security as it relates to people and facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the executive team and other key global stakeholders to develop a compelling strategic vision, evaluate alternative strategies, capitalize on core strengths, and implement operating plans to achieve objectives for growth.
  • Build and implement facility development plans that ensure sufficiency, flexibility, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage the real estate portfolio, including negotiating and executing new lease agreements, modifications to existing leases, renewal options and lease terminations.
  • Establish and direct future-forward programs that ensure environmental health, life safety, regulatory compliance, security, and continuity.
  • Oversee leadership for our security organization, across multiple disciplines including governance & controls, programs, compliance, investigations, physical security, and executive protection.
  • Champion critical infrastructure for facility and equipment needs.
  • Build smart processes and systems to enable transparent oversight and reporting.
  • Leverage the use of data, benchmarking and insights to develop and present multiple space and workplace scenarios to stakeholders, ensuring we optimize our employee workspaces and real estate portfolio.
  • Simplify and conduct financial management and reporting requirements for Facilities & EHS, including long-range planning and budget management.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 15 years of global experience running multiple real estate functions, preferably in the technology industry.
  • Proven leadership capabilities building, managing and holding accountable large, global teams with an “outcome ownership” mindset.
  • Experience leading strategic initiatives related to M&A and Divestitures in a publicly traded company strongly preferred.

  • Excellent strategic capability, with the ability to translate those strategies into aligned workstreams for execution by the team.

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, geographic location, and business needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.
