Position DescriptionPosition Title: Client Intake SpecialistFLSA Classification: Non-exemptFull or part-time status: Full-timeDepartment: Basic NeedsReports to: Basic Needs Operations ManagerHiring Range: $14.00-$18.50/hr DOEDate is written or last revised: January 2024Primary Function of PositionAs a Client Intake Specialist, you play a vital role in facilitating the seamless operation of client intake activities and associated services at the Weigand Resource Center.Major Position ResponsibilitiesEnsure a Smooth Check-In: Oversee the check-in process, ensuring clients properly scan in at the intake desk.Support Unregistered Clients: Assist clients without scan cards to complete intake procedures effectively.Accurate Data Management: Enter crucial data into the UHMIS system, contributing to precise record-keeping and data management.Respectful Interaction: Engage with individuals seeking assistance, maintaining a demeanor of respect and professionalism.Collaborative Security: Collaborate with security personnel, providing them with pertinent information in case safety concerns arise.Transparent Communication: Keep the Basic Needs Operations Manager informed about any developments or information that could impact the agency.Collaborative Teamwork: Cultivate a team-oriented environment, fostering positive synergy between staff and volunteers.Maintain Facility Comfort: Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of common areas, including men's and women's restrooms, while taking out trash and replacing liners.Proactive Hazard Handling: Safely dispose of dru g paraphernalia when encountered, contributing to a secure environment.Winter Safety Measures: Salt walkways during winter months, enhancing safety for clients and staff.Volunteer Coordination: Effectively coordinate the efforts of volunteers, facilitating their productive engagement.Building Operations: Contribute to the seamless daily operation of the center by opening or closing the building and locking or unlocking doors.Active Participation: Attend staff meetings, actively contributing insights and perspectives to the collaborative environment.Additional duties asassigned.Work EnvironmentYour responsibilities unfold primarily indoors within a welcoming, comfortable, and safe day shelter setting. The intake or reception area serves as the central point of interaction for clients.Physical DemandsAn ability to navigate the facility, engaging with clients, and attending to their needs throughout your shift. Be prepared to work on your feet for extended periods to accommodate the dynamic nature of the environment.Display the capability to lift objects weighing at least 30 lbs, contributing to the upkeep of the center.Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesCollaborative Aptitude: Exhibit proficiency in collaborative work, fostering harmonious interactions within a team.Tactful Problem-Solving: Approach problem situations with tact and sensitivity, contributing to effective conflict resolution.Considered Decision-Making: Demonstrate the ability to carefully consider issues, explore options, and propose alternatives for problem-solving.Ethical Attributes: Embrace personal qualities of integrity, compassion, and empathy, cultivating trust and confidence among clients.Effective Communication: Showcase proficiency in both oral and written communication, ensuring clear and concise interactions.Confidentiality Commitment: Uphold strict confidentiality, respecting the sensitive information clients share.Respectful Authority: Assert authority sincerely and respectfully when needed, maintaining a balanced and respectful demeanor.Education, Training and ExperienceA High School Diploma or GED is preferred, relevant experience can also be considered.Demons rate effective English communication skills, enabling clear interactions with clients and colleagues.Possess experience in computer software usage, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet navigation.Background Screening RequirementMust be able to pass a national BCI/FBI background check.Licenses, certifications, and credentialsNone required.Position status and expected scheduleThis is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week.Your workdays are Saturday through Wednesday, operating between 11 AM and 7:30 PM.
