Extra Help Assistant-Library Student Worker positions are part-time, non-benefits-eligible positions within Ottenheimer Library responsible for supporting various library services and initiatives.
The position requires working 12-20 hours per week. Certain positions will require working nights and weekends. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Must be currently enrolled at UA Little Rock;
- Formal education of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Job Duties:
- Check library materials in and out;
- Retrieve and shelves books, journals, A/V materials, and microforms;
- Straighten, shift, and read shelves;
- Assist library users with library research and the application of technology;
- Assist library users with equipment such as computers, microform readers, and printers/copiers;
- Process Interlibrary Loan requests;
- Scan and deliver digital copies of library materials;
- Retrieve, process, and package incoming and outgoing mail through Mail Services;
- Create/edit documents, spreadsheets, graphs, and files;
- Attend and actively participate in scheduled training sessions and staff meetings;
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Knowledge of Library of Congress call number sequences;
- Knowledge of MS Office and Google Workspace applications;
- Ability to follow instructions and perform detailed work;
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods, move book carts, and lift to 20 pounds;
- Ability to stoop, bend, and reach Aptitude for learning new technologies;
- Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment.
