WSP USA Lead Structural Engineer - Boston, Massachusetts

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Structural Engineer to join our New England Structures Transportation team. This role can be based out of either our Merrimack, NH, Boston, MA, Providence, RI, Glastonbury, CT or Portland, ME offices. Your Impact

  1. Perform professional structural engineering work and lead Bridge Design tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  2. Preparation of contract drawings and specifications.
  3. Preparation of design calculations for medium and long span bridge replacement projects.
  4. Perform complex structural analysis.
  5. Perform load rating analysis and evaluation of existing structures for repairs/retrofits.
  6. Strong knowledge with structural analysis software and CADD (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).
  7. Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects.
  8. Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
  9. Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  10. Remain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practices.
  11. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct.
  12. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  2. 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in an engineering discipline and prior structural or bridge transportation projects.
  3. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  4. Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
  5. Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and new design projects.
  6. Proficiency with MassDOT, MBTA, ConnDOT, MaineDOT, RIDOT, VTrans and/or NHDOT standards, specifications and procedures.
  7. Hands-on experience with structural analysis software and CADD (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).
  8. Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  9. Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
  10. Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  11. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  12. Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  2. BIM software capabilities.
  3. Working knowledge of AASHTOWare BrR software.
  4. Active in Professional Societies.
