Braun Intertec is seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer to join our Urbandale, IA office.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare proposals for moderate to complex projects.
  • Develop and execute whole scopes.
  • Review engineering work of others.
  • Perform engineering analysis using company and industry methodologies.
  • Make geotechnical recommendations and prepare engineering reports for senior review.
  • Understand and manage client needs through communication and proposal/project work.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Perform the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments.
  • Perform civil design calculations (i.e. grading, drainage, paving, geometric design, utility design, etc.).
  • Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians within the discipline group.
  • Review drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommend necessary changes.
  • Identify complex problems/possible solutions and take appropriate action to resolve.
  • Manage project teams including engineering and field support personnel.
  • Oversee and train Braun Intertec technical practices. Supervise and mentor junior level staff.
  • Compile engineering calculations using standard formulas and computer software.
  • Prepare field reports documenting contractors' work methods, test results, and interpretations.
  • Work within established procedures and protocols; aware of risks associated with recommendations.
  • Develop understanding of Braun Intertec services and ability to market to clients.
  • Comply with corporate practices and health and safety policies.
  • Complete safety training as required.

Minimum Experience and Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; requires BS in civil or geotechnical engineering (MS preferred) and 9+ years’ experience; requires PE Certification.
  • Requires creative and innovative thinking for resolution of high-impact, complex problems.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and technical procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities.

Licensing or Certification Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and pass MVR as required.
  • PE Certification.
