Senior Application Engineer for Building Controls and Management System

The Company/ Opportunity:

I am currently partnered with a company specializing in innovative building control solutions and management systems. They focus on enhancing energy efficiency, improving operational performance, and creating sustainable environments for commercial and residential properties. Their expert team leverages cutting-edge technology to provide tailored solutions that empower our clients to optimize their building performance and reduce their environmental impact.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designing systems: Develop and create innovative building control systems tailored to meet client needs, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency.
  • Estimating projects: Accurately assess project requirements and costs, providing detailed estimates that align with budgetary constraints and project timelines.
  • Negotiating contracts: Engage with clients to negotiate terms and agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial contracts that support project goals and foster long-term relationships.
  • Team Leadership: Provide direction and support to a team of engineers by leading initiatives that enhance their skills and foster a collaborative work environment, ensuring that team members are engaged and motivated in their roles.
  • Education and Training: Develop and implement training programs to educate team members on best practices and emerging technologies, focusing on areas such as submittal development, project management, and system programming to enhance overall team performance.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee the comprehensive process of project execution, which includes guiding the development of system graphics and managing the commissioning phase to ensure successful implementation and operation of building management systems.


Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of engineering experience in the automation industry is required.
  • Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Proficient in designing and submitting control systems , with a strong focus on technical specifications.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical system operations and their integration within control systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of control systems hardware , including control sequences, installation practices, line and low voltage wiring methods, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management abilities to motivate and supervise engineering and technical teams effectively.
  • Experience with Distech, Johnson Controls, Schneider Controls or Honeywell is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to train staff on control methods and systems, as well as troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and control system issues.
  • Fluent in English for effective communication.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Niagara Certification
  • Other nationally recognized certifications or training in related fields
  • Experience with LON, BACnet, or Modbus communication protocols
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED Accredited, and Energy Auditor
