Job Requirements / Description

Responsible for providing accounting and financial analysis leadership support both within the Accounting/Finance Department and, as identified, to the respective Operating Units (Divisional or Departmental). Works primary involves traditional month and year-end close activities, including the preparation and review of accruals and account reclassifications as well as preparation and review of account reconciliations. Responsible for performing variance analysis on accounts, investigating movement in balances that occur period-to-period and against Budgeted or Projected amounts. Leads in the preparation of the annual Budget and periodic Projection updates (as well as the annual Extended Financial Forecast), Provides on-going operational accounting support, updates various operational reports used by Divisional management as well as other accounting/finance related activities as assigned.
Responsible for coordination and preparation of periodic financial forecasts, annual operating budgets, and all analytical and variance reports used by management and for Board presentations. Responsible for the accounting management and financial reporting of assigned operating units.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that proper accounting internal controls and procedures are established and maintained, including reconciliation of accounts, etc.
  • Coordinates and prepares monthly accrual and adjusting journal entries.
  • Runs and analyses monthly reports (including board deck slides) and development of detailed variance explanations, including actual vs prior year and budget vs projection.
  • Works with Finance and operations management to improve the quality of management reports and internal controls;
  • Assists management in developing appropriate performance metrics and trend reports.
  • Provides on-going transactional support, liaising with operations and corporate support functions (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, etc.) and divisional business partners (vendors, licensees, etc.).
  • Assists in the ongoing assessment of accounting and financial reporting compliance with GAAP; researching and presenting recommendations as necessary.
  • Participates and contributes to ERP and system upgrades.
  • Assists with year-end close and annual financial statements audit.
  • Serves as functional back-up and perform accounting duties, as assigned, necessary to ensure adequate internal control processes are in place (i.e. cash disbursements, etc.).
  • Assists with Internal Audit as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit, including special projects. Attends meetings as requested.
  • Provides other accounting/finance support to Finance and Divisional management as requested
  • Participates in relevant training as requested
Minimum Educational and Experience Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 3-5 years general accounting/reporting experience
  • 4 year Bachelor's Degree in accounting
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle diverse tasks and changing priorities.
  • Possesses strong computer skills, in both PC and large ERP system environments. MS NAV Preferred, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, familiarity with macros), proficiency in Microsoft office.
  • Ability to understand of US GAAP, working knowledge of general ledger operations and experience in financial analysis are required.
  • Possesses strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
  • Ability to pick up tasks quickly with on-the-job training.
  • Possesses the ability to interpret and communicate issues, problems and results.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential functions consistent with Sunkist standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to talk, listen and speak effectively on telephone; read, write and understand written documents and policy; sit for sustained periods of time.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and accurate, as this position requires a high degree of accuracy (i.e. preparation of shipper payments, divisional invoicing, etc.)
  • Ability to be ethical, honest and work with integrity since this position deals with and affects the financial aspects of the organization (both in recording transactions and in reporting).
  • Ability to think critically and analytically since this position requires analysis of changes in account balances as well as assessing the reasonableness and propriety of account activity.
  • Ability to apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and communicate routine, factual information.
  • Possesses problem-solving skills to be able to resolve and propose solutions to general process impediments.
