Wellness Coach

Description
The Hockomock Area YMCA is hiring Wellness Coaches for the Hurley Family Branch in North Attleboro, MA. The Wellness Center Coach assists with motivating and educating fitness members in the Wellness Center.
Essential Functions

• Monitors the fitness room as fitness members use the exercise equipment
• Greets, acknowledges, and connects with all members
• Motivates and educates fitness members in leading healthy lifestyles
• Offers information on proper use of exercise equipment
• Integrates the mission of the YMCA and follows the core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility
• Promotes personal training, classes, and all wellness relate opportunities
• Supports the retention of members
• Respects the individual goals, needs, and perspectives of each member
• Knows and abides by YMCA policies and procedures, including accident and incident reports and the code of conduct (i.e. does not prescribe anything to any member, including but not limited to, nutritional vitamins and supplements)
• Demonstrates support for the YMCA Reach out for Youth (ROFY) through member awareness, recruiting volunteers, and participation in events
• Works to ensure a neat, clean, and organized Wellness Center, including all workout areas, paperwork, towels, and cleaning supplies.
• Is on time and dressed in proper staff attire for every shift
• Secures coverage when unable to work scheduled shifts and covers shifts for others when able, communicating shift changes to Health & Wellness Director as soon as possible
• Attends all staff meetings and training opportunities

Requirements

• Interpersonal communication skills, required
• Demonstrated understanding of the core values of the Hockomock YMCA (honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility)
• Understanding of cardio and strength equipment training principles
• Ability to successfully guide participants through an equipment orientation
• Certifications should include, but not be limited to CPR & First Aid (within 60 days of hire)
