Synopsis
Under the direction of the Executive Spa Director, the Spa Director oversees all aspects of the day-to-day Spa & Salon, Retail, and Shipping & Receiving operations and related services, its financial performance, and provides guidance and oversight of the implementation of strategic initiatives at the spa. Maximizes productivity and ensures adequate staffing levels; inspects and implements necessary safety and sanitation guidelines; and conducts maintenance and housekeeping inspections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Adheres to established Policies and Procedures.
- Supports the Executive Spa Director and General Manager with department budget planning and compliance; reports financial history to the P&L review team; forecasts occupancy, revenue and expenses; oversees payroll processing, purchasing and procurement; evaluates and recommends results-oriented compensation strategies to enhance sales and incent employees. Ensures safe cash/payment handling procedures.
- Uses financial plans for spotting trends, measuring productivity and monitoring progress.
- Controls ongoing service and product margin analysis to ensure profitability.
- Develops & Implements contingency plans to manage operational costs and boost the bottom line.
- Develops procedures for ensuring accurate inventory management control and monitoring.
- Provides marketing and public relations support including but not limited to writing e-newsletter articles, providing logistics for photo shoots and representing the company as directed.
- Consistently develops and grows service and retail sales through training, tools, and monitoring.
- Resolves guest and associate issues using the HEART standard.
- Monitors customer satisfaction by reviewing surveys and direct customer engagement and holding focus groups.
- Implements ongoing skills training to ensure service standards and encourage retention.
- Ensures consistency in compliance of department mission, vision, values, service standards, policies and procedures, and treatment/service protocols.
- Maintains a full operational overview of staff scheduling and oversees the coordination of staffing levels or schedule shift adjustments with department Supervisors in order to maximize revenues and minimize expenses.
- Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings to keep staff current on all aspects of the operation.
- Identifies operational problem areas including but not limited to laundry, supplies, music, temperatures, odors, hazards and equipment and communicates such issues to proper staff member for resolution.
- Educates and encourages a profit-related dynamic in retail and treatment sales, waste abatement, and quality control assurance.
- Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
- Constantly reviews menu of services and product offerings to keep pace with current trends and ever-changing guest needs and expectations.
- Supports any efforts and strategies to advance Business opportunities.
- Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned by Executive Director and General Manager.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree required plus five (5) to seven (7) years of spa/salon management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum two (2) years' experience at a Director, Assistant Director, or Operations Manager level required.
