Location: This position is based on-site in Newburyport, MA. The position holder will need to be within commuting distance (within 45 min). The position will be on-site full time.

Senior Buyer Summary:The Senior Buyer is responsible for the coordination of all activities related to procurement such as planning, purchasing, risk assessment, contract negotiation, monitoring market trends, cost reduction strategies, inventory management, and total supplier quality management utilizing best buy practices and conformance to UFP procedures.
- Independently oversees the purchase order process from creation to closure, ensuring accuracy in terms and conditions, and compliance with company policies.
- Develops and implements purchasing strategies that align with the company's business goals and operational needs.
- Negotiates better terms and secures advantageous agreements through effective management of supplier relationships.
- Analyzes market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and supply chain optimization.
- Implements risk management strategies to mitigate potential supply chain disruptions, including diversifying supplier base and maintaining safety stock levels.
- Manages total supplier quality, including site audits as needed.
- Independently handles various special projects assigned by Supply Chain Manager, Materials Manager, or Manufacturing Manager, related to product search, costing, plant operations or financials.
- Tracks and reports materials / inventory levels per project on a regular basis.
- Manages sub-contract supply chain requirements.
- Backs up Supply Chain Manager with duties and covers during absence.
- Travels to supplier less than 10% of the time.
- Bachelor's degree in material procurement or similar discipline, and minimum of 10 years' experience in a procurement function supporting a manufacturing operation.
- Strong analytical abilities and experience working with MRP systems.
- Experience with lean manufacturing and six sigma environments.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and data entry skills.
- Ability to analyze complex planning matrixes and execute best strategies for optimal stocking levels.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Good written and verbal communications skills.
- Six Sigma Lean background.
- Word, Excel, Power Point fluency preferred.
- Supplier audit experience preferred.
- CPM certification preferred.
