The Tax Controller Senior Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for the provision of tax reporting and analysis in coordination with the Finance team. Additionally, the Tax Controller Senior Group Manager develops reporting and control procedures to accurately prepare information for financial reporting and analysis. The objective of this role is to ensure entity and business financials are prepared and delivered in a controlled, timely and accurate manner and compliant with tax accounting requirements.
Responsibilities:
Support the tax analysis and submission of reports to various constituencies (local regulators, SEC, Fed, OCC, etc.) based on requirements such as US GAAP, US Regulatory, and local statutory reporting
Manage tax activities, including closing the books and sub-ledgers, passing appropriate required adjustment entries and consolidating financials at the end of each accounting period to ensure compliance with tax accounting requirements
Ensure appropriate controls around all areas of tax financial and reporting, planning, and analysis
Provide assistance across entire firm or multiple business lines / areas
Partner with business Lead Finance Officers and Corporate FP&A to improve efficiency, effectiveness, productivity, and/or control
Close co-ordination with Citi Tax Department and Global Accounting Policy
Support the wider transfer pricing and allocation team to drive and implement corporate wide initiatives
Manage day-to-day high level operational execution and development of the strategic direction of the relevant infrastructure area
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
15+ years of relevant experience
Knowledge of income tax accounting and reporting, including US GAAP and IFRS
Experience in people management
Previous supervisory experience
Demonstrated leadership and management skills
Ability to work across functional areas
Demonstrated project management skills
Education:
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Master’s degree preferred
