Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
  • This position is located at the Aiken-Barnwell Mental Health Center, 1135 Gregg Highway, Aiken, SC 29803.
Job Purpose
  • Coordinates Housing Programs and initiatives according to the general guidelines of the SC Department of Mental Health and the Aiken-Barnwell Mental Health Center to support the recovery of people with mental illness.
Job Functions
  • Coordinates housing programs/initiatives at ABMHC to include but not limited to: Community Housing Program, Homeshare Program, Homeshare Respite Program, and Community Residential Care Facilities.
  • Ensures housing vacancies are filled in a timely manner.
  • Communicates and networks with partners on a regular basis to grown and maintain housing partnerships.
  • Analyzes data and prepares reports as applicable to housing programs.
  • Provides direct services to patients and ensure patients are seen in accordance with their needs.
  • Patient care hour requirement of 480 hours annually.
  • Completes documentation according to QA/SCDMH/ABMHC policies and procedures and ensures patient functionality is measured by DLA-20.
  • Complies with Corporate Compliance Policy and Risk Management Plan to ensure the prevention of abuse, fraud, or waste according to.
  • Participates in clinical supervision, treatment team meetings, pursues professional development, and demonstrates effective use of social and interpersonal knowledge and skills and demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of individual and group differences and similarities.
  • Effectively utilizes and maintains certification of evidence-based practices.
  • Attends treatment team meetings and provides consultation regarding complex cases as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirement:
  • A Masters' degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences.
Agency Requirements:
  • Licensed or working toward licensure in SC. Must qualify for credentialing and privileging as a mental health professional and in accordance with Quality Assurance standards and with concurrence by DMH Office of Quality Management.

Preferred Qualifications
Agency Preferences:
  • One (1) year of post-graduate experience providing counseling/treatment.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Practical therapeutic knowledge of principles, methods and counseling practices and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and mental disorders.
  • Ability to listen and understand and communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
  • Knowledge of psychopathology, family dynamics, family and group psychotherapy.
  • Ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals.
  • Employee will be provided routine scheduled supervision by supervisor and participate in monthly consultation groups and housing meetings.
  • Additional supervision provided by psychiatrist via interdisciplinary staffing meetings.
  • Employee is subject to SCDMH/ABMHC policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lift 5lbs.
  • Ability to operate a state vehicle.
  • Position is considered essential and may be called back during crises/disasters/emergencies.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
