Position Summary
Gettysburg Colleges is currently seeking two full-time experienced Cooks to work in the College's award-winning Dining Hall. The ideal candidate will bring culinary passion, attention to detail, and a commitment to consistently deliver delicious dishes to our guests. Cooks need to prepare and execute menu items according to our recipes, presentation standards, and quality guidelines. Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure timely and efficient food preparation during service. Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards. Assist in ingredient prep, portion control, and maintaining appropriate stock levels. Communicate effectively with fellow cooks, Chef, Sous Chef and other team members. Be able to adapt to high-pressure situations and busy service periods. Cooks are able to work on a variety of stations including but not limited to the Grill, Sauté, Entrée and Pizza. Dining Services serves approximately 3,500 meals per day for daily student dining, faculty and staff dining and catering events. Dining Services operates seven days per week during the academic year, therefore, these positions work a variety of shifts including day, evening, and weekends, including some holidays. Hours vary during non-academic times.

Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required and at least one to two years of food service production experience in a high-volume kitchen is highly desired. The ability to follow and understand written and oral directions, to work both independently or as part of a team and be certified in safe food handling procedures or the ability to become certified is also required. This position requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire work day and the ability to lift, stack and maneuver objects that may weigh at least 25 pounds. The successful candidate will demonstrate communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.
