Required Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of four (4) years related experience.

Key Responsibilities: This is not a comprehensive list of responsibilities.

  • Keeps appointment calendars, schedules appointments, arranges meetings and workshops, and makes travel arrangements for departmental personnel; prepares promotional materials for special departmental programs/tasks, such as workshops and conferences, as directed by supervisor; assists department personnel with customer service; maintains confidentiality.
  • Performs office tasks such as typing correspondence, schedules, documents, manuals, forms, and reports, setting up filing, preparing spreadsheets, faxing, emailing, telephoning, and photocopying.
  • Answers telephones and provides information; routes calls to appropriate personnel or takes messages; retrieves messages from and responds to voicemail; manages calling campaigns.
  • Types and processes various departmental forms, including work orders and instructional materials for SLS classes and Truth about Suicide Workshops. Tracks workshop materials.
  • Provides accommodations for students with disabilities to include scheduling testing rooms.
  • Hires readers, notetakers, tutors, and interpreters for students with disabilities, and provides supervision for students who have been hired. Retrieves student records; gathers data regarding student contacts and evaluation of services.
  • Provides support for department wide initiatives, supports departmental workshops, fairs, conferences. Assists with arranging crisis intervention services.
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies/equipment and counseling materials; orders materials as required; maintains office machines, maintains student workers and ASL budget.
  • Gathers and maintains information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for Student Disabilities Services. Participates in staff meetings at the unit and departmental level; provides minutes for the unit. Attends staff and other professional meetings to exchange information and/or represent Student Disability Services; attends professional or technical workshops, seminars, or conferences to improve professional skills. Maintains current knowledge of disabilities and emerging support services and resources in the field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Requires Microsoft Word and Excel experience.
  • Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis and routine keyboard operations.
  • Requires normal visual acuity and a field of vision, hearing, speaking and color perception.
