Fun Dog Studios is a new employee-owned indie studio composed of ex-AAA game developers with a united mission to game development and publishing: making games we want to play for customers with transparency and respectful monetization practices. This mission has resonated with customers as our first title, The Forever Winter, has been a top-seller on Steam in its early days, engaging hundreds of thousands of “scav” players around the world.


We are seeking an AI Engineer to join our team and bring the warring factions of The Forever Winter to life. In this role, you will help create, manage, and evolve AI in Unreal Engine. The ideal candidate is an experienced AI Engineer for AAA/AA games who enjoys developing cutting edge AI behaviors, combat, and interactions that will keep hundreds of thousands of co-op shooter gamers on the edge of their seats.


This is a full-time remote position. This position will also be eligible to receive equity in our fast-growing studio.


Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI systems and features

• Author AI behaviors for in-game characters

• Maintain and extend documentation on AI features and systems

• Work with design team to create AI gyms and other methods of testing AI interaction

• Profile and optimize code to meet memory, performance, and CPU budgets

• Analyze feature requests for viability, design completeness, risks

• Manage AI development tasks and updates, and coordinate with Director of Technology and production team to ensure smooth execution of our bi-weekly sprints


Requirements

• 5+ years experience shipping titles as AI Engineer

• Comfortable working directly with designers in an iterative environment

• Solid understanding of different aspects of game AI (navigation, behavior trees, etc.)

• Strong Modern C++ development skills

• Debugging and profiling skills

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Solid 3D math skills


Preferences

• Previously work on shipped Shooter titles

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering

• Extensive Unreal Engine 4/5 experience
