Summary:
At Harcros Chemicals Inc., an employee-owned company with a rich legacy in specialty chemical manufacturing and distribution, we're continuously expanding. With 2 manufacturing plants and 27 distribution facilities across 20 states, we're seeking a dedicated IBC Specialist professional to join our team to assist with opportunities. Reporting to the Operations Manager this role will be responsible for the thorough maintenance, testing, and documentation of Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs.) As the face of our company, the IBC Specialist will also require hands-on experience with IBCs, proficiency in relevant software, and the ability to manage both daily and periodic tasks effectively.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Perform cleaning and pressure washing of IBCs.
  • Replace valves and components as needed.
  • Conduct pressure tests on IBCs to ensure compliance with DOT standards.
  • Document test results and update records for each individual IBC.
  • Manage data entry and updates in Sage and Tolas systems.
  • Issue clean certifications for each IBC.
  • Track IBC movements and manage related paperwork.
  • Handle and dispose of wastewater generated from IBCs.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records, both digital and hard copies.
  • Sign off on tote certifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor and replenish supplies for IBC parts.
  • Inspect the yard for damaged totes and schedule repairs as needed.
  • Ensure LMS training is up-to-date.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to IBC maintenance and certification.
  • Manage performance and implement policies to meet DOT standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations Manager & IBC Tech/Rail Worker to maintain IBCs.
  • Other job duties may be assigned.
  • Job duties may also result in:
    • Generate, handle, and/or inspect hazardous waste and hazardous waste storage.
    • Respond or manage hazardous waste spills and incidents based on the site's emergency action or contingency plan.
    • Prepare and manage hazardous waste records such as manifests, inspection logs, waste determination and other reports.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
  • Manage IBC staff up to 1-2 employees.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with IBCs
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • CRM Experience preferred.
  • And/or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Capabilities & Requirements:
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds frequently, and up to 75 to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle objects or tools, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Work Environment:
  • Exposure to hazardous fumes or odors.
  • Noise level is moderate to loud.
  • Will frequently work in outdoor weather conditions.
