Job Requirements / Description

The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the company’s accounting and financial operations. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The Controller is also responsible for enhancing the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Financial Controller will be an integral part of the leadership team, providing financial oversight and strategic guidance to help drive the growth of the organization. Collaboration

  1. Provide comprehensive financial updates to leadership by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
  2. Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation
  3. Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows
  4. Preparation of financial statements, monthly and annual reporting, accounts payable and receivable, and payroll
  5. Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
  6. Establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a biweekly, monthly, and annual basis
  7. Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner; ensure accounts receivable are collected promptly
  8. Manage outsourced functions (vendor onboarding)
  9. Manage the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
  10. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  11. Additional responsibilities as the company scales and the position evolves.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field
  2. Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
  3. Ten or more years of professional accounting experience
  4. Professional certification, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred
  5. Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
