Under administrative direction, this position will independently conduct complex, non-routine risk-based audits in all areas, including operational, financial, administrative, compliance, and technology programs by assessing the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records, and efficiency of operations. The position will plan and develop audit programs and procedures for all assigned audits that consider work documents and current policies, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations. This position will also research and identify all applicable state laws, administrative rules, statutory mandates, regulations, policies, and procedures for each audit. We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.Essential FunctionsServes as Senior Internal Auditor.Researches and identifies all applicable state laws, administrative rules, statutory mandates, regulations, policies, and procedures for each audit.Consults with supervisor during audits regarding changes to the audit program, problems that have occurred, and the progress of the audit.Prepares reports for assigned audits to present at exit conferences that detail the audit’s findings, compliance with state laws, administrative rules, statutory mandates, policies and procedures, and any internal controls, accounting methods, or procedure recommendations needed to explain the report’s contents.Conducts special projects for supervisor, such as conducting research regarding applicable laws, statutory mandates, administrative rules, regulations, and policies and procedures.Attends formal and in-house training to meet continuing professional education requirements.Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.Minimum QualificationsRequires a bachelor’s degree, with coursework in accounting, auditing, business management, computer science, economics, public administration, or other related subjects.Requires four years of professional auditing experience; or three years of professional auditing experience plus completion of one of the following certifications: Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant, or Certified Information Systems Auditor.Conditions of EmploymentRequires ability to pass a background check.Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
