Overview:
The Building Management System (BMS) Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and optimization of all Building Management Systems across Inotiv facilities. This role will ensure that the BMS functions efficiently to control and monitor building systems such as HVAC, lighting, energy management, and more. The BMS Engineer will also play a crucial role in maintaining and supporting animal care systems, ensuring optimal environmental conditions for animal housing and care. This position is critical to ensuring the safety, security, and operational efficiency of both human and animal occupants within the facility.
Responsibilities:
BMS Operations & Maintenance:
Oversee the operation and functionality of the Building Management System (BMS) to ensure building systems (HVAC, lighting, etc.) are operating efficiently.
Perform routine system diagnostics, maintenance, and updates to optimize performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Develop and maintain control strategies for optimizing energy management, environmental conditions, and building performance.
Respond to BMS-related issues, providing timely troubleshooting and repair coordination.
Collaborate with other facility departments to align BMS functions with overall building performance goals.
Animal Support Systems:
Ensure that BMS and environmental control systems meet the specific requirements for animal care environments, including appropriate temperature, humidity, ventilation, and lighting.
Regularly monitor and maintain systems that support animal life, such as water supply, air quality, and backup power for critical life-support systems.
Respond promptly to any environmental control issues that may affect animal welfare and safety.
Assist with the installation, configuration, and upkeep of specialized systems for animal care facilities, such as biosecurity controls, isolation room systems, and containment areas.
System Upgrades & Projects:
Lead or assist with BMS-related projects such as system upgrades, new installations, and expansions.
Work with vendors and contractors to implement BMS modifications, upgrades, or new system installations.
Ensure that all modifications to the BMS, animal support systems, and physical security systems are properly documented and comply with company and regulatory standards.
Collaboration & Training:
Work closely with facilities, IT, animal care teams, and security teams to ensure seamless integration of the BMS with other building systems.
Train facilities staff on the use and maintenance of the BMS, animal support systems, and door access systems as needed.
Maintain close communication with key stakeholders on system performance, energy efficiency, animal care support, and security issues.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS), HVAC controls, or related automation systems.
Experience with animal support systems and understanding of environmental controls for animal care environments is highly desirable.
Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with BMS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, etc.).
Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, lighting, and mechanical systems as they relate to BMS.
Familiarity with animal life-support systems.
Knowledge of network communications, system integrations, and energy management principles.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Sit for extended period of time.
Fine manipulation including handle touch object or tools and ability to handled controls to perform work.
Ability to read and interpret materials, verbally communicate, and hear required.
Showering into bio-secure facilities
Climbing ladders, working at heights
*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
