Full Job Description

Summary : This position is responsible for accounting for development project spend and ensuring construction assets are accurately recorded in the company's financial statements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for ensuring development project spend is accurately tracked and accounted for in construction accounting software.
  2. Prepare and submit monthly construction draws for development projects.
  3. Reconcile construction-in-progress and related general ledger accounts to spend detail in construction accounting software.
  4. Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for lodges under construction, ensuring that costs are recorded in line with internal capitalization policies.
  5. Monitor costs recorded in construction in progress and confirm projects are viable with project managers.
  6. Monitor and track construction project costs, ensure assets are placed in service and reclassified to appropriate fixed asset accounts on a timely basis and are assigned appropriate asset categories.
  7. Assist in the asset cost segregation process for newly developed lodges and completed renovation projects.
  8. Prepare standard reports and ad hoc development reporting as needed by management.
  9. Provide development accounting-related information to external auditors.
  10. Participate in special projects on an as-needed basis.
  11. Assist with establishing, implementing and documenting policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting required and at least two years of relevant experience with fixed assets required.
  2. Strong demonstrated accounting and analytical experience.
  3. Demonstrated attention to detail - able to complete tasks with a high level of accuracy.
  4. Demonstrated skill in completing and recording financial transactions. Able to aid in developing information for financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations.
  5. Strong proficiency in using accounting software and other applicable financial software.
  6. Strong demonstrated skills in Microsoft Excel - macros, v-lookups, and pivot tables.
  7. High level of organization and ability to manage to deadlines.

  5. Construction accounting, fixed asset accounting.
  6. Hospitality industry.
