The Data Infrastructure and Applications (DNA) team is seeking a talented and motivated Software Development Manager. DNA products are big data-based, leveraging a central data platform to collect, aggregate, govern, and vend data for operations and simulation use.

As a Manager you will:

  1. Be a great people manager, recruit, motivate, coach, reward, and guide a team of Engineers to deliver new solutions at increasing scale across Amazon operations.
  2. Keep your technical skills current to contribute to architecture and design discussions. Lead your team to evolve our service architecture with quality, robustness, and sized scale as top priorities. You will regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.
  3. Set a vision for your team and create product roadmaps. Help your team sort out technical and product requirements and priorities. Use project management skills to deliver product roadmap items and other cross-team projects.

Minimum Requirements:
  1. 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  2. 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  3. 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  4. 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
  5. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
  6. Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
  7. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
  8. Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective product software engineers.
