Position Summary

The Head of Global Logistics role is responsible for managing and optimizing the movement, storage, and distribution of all corporate materials, aviation parts, ground support equipment, tools, and commercial products. This role is responsible for overseeing and enhancing Metrea’s global shipping and inventory management processes and achieving the best cost and with the least operational friction.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develops and optimizes global supply chain operations, including transportation, and distribution networks. Focuses primarily on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with global trade requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including down-range logistics, maintenance production, Global Trade Compliance (GTC), and aerospace leadership, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.
  • Develop and maintain a network of logistics providers and other partners to support domestic movement and international import/export operations.
  • In conjunction with the GTC team, manage import and export documentation, including customs declarations, bills of lading, and other shipping documents.
  • Develop and implement import/export strategies that support the company's business goals and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience with both domestic and international customs requirements, and a strong working knowledge of the CBP ACE system.
  • Support shipping and Global Trade Compliance departments in development of accurate and timely commercial invoices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the timeliness and cost-effectiveness of existing trade lanes between global warehouses and forward operating base stations.
  • Negotiate freight rates and contracts with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics providers.
  • Monitor and report on import/export activities, including shipment status and delivery performance.
  • Manage relationships with customs officials and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with import/export regulations.
  • Manage import/export budgets and costs to optimize the efficiency and profitability of these activities.
  • Train the Global Logistics team in all aspects of logistics operations that are applicable to their respective job classifications.
  • Update training records and monitor recurrent training requirements to ensure that the Global Logistics team is current on all training related to the department and provides regular updates to the Head of Supply Chain Management.
  • Assess staff performance ongoing and address performance and behavioral issues using the progressive discipline processes and policies as outlined in Metrea’s employee handbook. Involve necessary teammates in People issues as needed and escalate serious concerns to Human Resources.
  • Draft schedules to ensure that the Global Logistics team is available across all hours to support necessary maintenance activity.
  • Ensure that items are transferred to other required locations in a timely and effective manner.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to keep them informed about shipment status and any potential scheduling delays.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Excel at resolving complex challenges with a strategic and thoughtful approach.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Engineering.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of logistics and supply chain management.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in aviation logistics, including AOG Shipments.

Computer Skills:

  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Expert level in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Education, Experience and Certificates:

  • Education: Master’s Degree.
  • Experience in International Shipping, ITAR/EAR parts, and management of customs.
  • Experience with Veryon or similar platform.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics D365.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Must be able to accomplish any and all duties with little or no assistance.
  • Must have good command of the English language; oral and written.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require. Non-Exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager.

Travel:

Travel requirements are between 25 – 35%.

Work Location:

Hybrid based out of Bethany, OK or Temecula, CA.

Work Environment:
This job operates in an office setting.
