The South Florida Tech Association is a non-profit 501(c)6 membership association building with a purpose of fostering a community of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship in South Florida. We are Building South Florida’s Tech Hub.


About the Role


The Director of Events & Community Partnerships is a trusted and critical member of the Development & Programs departments, helping South Florida Tech Hub achieve its mission through community outreach, member programming and external Tech Hub and partner organized events. This is a full-time hybrid role for a Director of Events & Community Partnerships at South Florida Tech Hub located in Miami-Fort Lauderdale Area, with flexibility for remote work. The Director will be responsible for overseeing events, managing community partnerships, and driving engagement initiatives. Day-to-day tasks include developing event strategies, fostering strategic partnerships, managing accounts, planning events, and supporting sales efforts.


Responsibilities


  • Work alongside the Director of Member Engagement with the primary focus being program and event organization and execution, community partner recruitment, engagement and retention, and sponsorship sales in order to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Help develop programs and activities to educate and connect the community to increase engagement and participation.
  • Manage a portfolio of events ensuring each event aligns with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Prepares and manages event budgets for approval ensuring meticulous budget management and adherence to approved financial plans.
  • Conduct through research and provide recommendations for event logistics, including, but not limited to, speaker selection, venue, food and beverage, event set-up, décor, entertainment, audio visual, virtual event production requirements and more.
  • Perform post-event analysis to measure success, gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead vendor contract negotiations ensuring favorable terms and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Oversee vendor performance, ensuring high standards and alignment with event objectives, and address any discrepancies or issues promptly and professionally.
  • Continually lead meetings with lead staff, support department staff and vendors to ensure successful execution of event plans.
  • Maintains accurate and organized electronic files and communications for assigned events, ensuring easy access to information and efficient project management.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including sponsors, partners, leaders and attendees to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
  • Attends all events serving as a key representative of South Florida Tech Hub, ensuring that events run smoothly and successfully.
  • Solicit sponsorship of events and programs from community partners and external stakeholders.
  • Lead volunteer coordination at events, as needed.
  • Maintain a CRM database of all partners, vendors, venues, etc. and ensure the integrity of the information.
  • Solicit feedback and suggestions from members to help improve initiatives.
  • Perform administrative duties as required.


Qualifications


Experience in one of the following areas: Event Planning, Sponsorships or Fundraising, Non-profit Management, Business Administration, Business Development. Three (3) or more years’ experience with events and event management or equivalent combination of relevant education, experience and skills required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Strong knowledge of basic office computing, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Zoom and basic database skills required. Strong organizational skills required. Experience working with volunteers and committees. Experience managing budgets required. Ability to problem solve and multi-task with numerous deadlines. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Creativity and innovative thinking required. Must be able to lift and carry at least 25 lbs. and be able to set up event displays. Must maintain a valid Florida driver’s license. Must be able to work off-shift hours including nights and weekends, as needed.
