Overall Objectives of Position
Reporting to the Division Director–Community Services, the Director-Community Services Senior Operations has the day-to-day direct oversight of the Departments and programs under the Community Services Division and the Poarch Creek Community Center, providing assistance and technical expertise to the Division Director-Community Services and all Community Services Division Departments. This individual will collaborate directly with the Division Director–Community Services and other internal and external stakeholders to provide the highest quality of services offered through the Community Services Division. The Director-Community Services Senior Operations is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of each department under their purview including Fred L. McGhee Learning Center, Boys & Girls Club, Culture, Recreation and Education Departments in addition to the Community Services Nurse, Transportation, and front desk employees. Primary Responsibilities of the Director-Community Services Senior Operations
- Oversees the aspects of the Poarch Creek Community Center.
- Supervises the Directors of FLMLC, Boys & Girls Club, Recreation, Culture, and Education in addition to the Facilities Specialist, Health and Compliance Nurse, Administrative Assistant, and Transportation Specialist.
- Collaborates with the Facilities Specialist to oversee all projects at the PCCC and plan for all future needs at the PCCC while ensuring all maintenance issues and work orders are successfully completed for the PCCC.
- Ensures all safety and compliance issues and plans are addressed immediately.
- Assists and provides technical support to the Division Director-Community Services and Community Services Division Departments in the day-to-day operations.
- Day-to-day leadership of the staff by being visible, interacting with all CSD personnel, and inspiring them with Purpose and Values.
- Works with all CSD departments to maintain effective public relations with the community, maintain an active presence in the community, and promote the Division’s programs.
- Collaboratively works with the Division Director–Community Services to assess all CSD programming and continuously performs quality assurance evaluations of all CSD Departments to identify challenges and solutions to address those challenges.
- Advocates for community services, educational needs, and concerns of Tribal members.
- Works closely with the CSD Departments to review, update, and write policies.
- Collects Community Services Department and Division statistics and generates all assigned reports.
- Keeps the Division Director-Community Services Division abreast of all challenges, concerns, and successes and up to date on all operations within the Community Services Division.
- Works with other departments, divisions, and external agencies that provide direct services to or have requests for the Community Services Division.
- Develops short and long-range goals, as well as plans necessary for the success of all departments within the Community Services Division.
- Investigates new programs with cost-benefit analyses and presents them to the CSDD.
- Monitors the implementation of new projects and programs within the CSD.
- Conducts internal investigations as necessary and in a timely manner to ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Steps in with coordination from the Health Department when the Community Services Division Nurse is absent.
- Oversees the Administrative Assistant on planning and coordinating the multipurpose room, teaching kitchen, and conference room.
- Oversees transportation services for Fred L. McGhee, Boys and Girls Club, Community Services Division, and the Tribe.
- Assists in the Community Services Division budget development and oversight.
- Responsible for grant management oversight and compliance.
- Serves as the person in charge in the absence of the Community Services Division Director. Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate person.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, technical assistance, guidance, and support to CSD Department Directors and other staff members under their purview on all major facets of community services.
- Oversees the Poarch Creek Community Center and works with the departments in the building to manage issues that arise and needs of the building.
- Oversees the day to day building and all functions within.
Education/License/Certification and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business Management, Business Administration or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Five (5) years of employment experience in a Community Services field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role overseeing individuals who manage their own teams or direct reports.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with budgets, including but not limited to: required reports, budget modifications, etc. required.
- Experience writing policies required.
- Experience developing and managing children or community programs preferred.
- Experience working with grants preferred.
- Must possess “Mandatory Reporter Certification” or obtain within the first week of employment.
- Must possess and maintain First Aid/CPR certification or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a diverse audience.
- Must have a working knowledge of computers with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Word, Excel, etc. required.
- Must possess a high level of maturity with the ability to maintain confidentiality, establish workload priorities, handle multi-tasks, and balance diverse projects.
- Must be able to work independently, set priorities, plan, organize, and implement activities.
- Ability to handle difficult situations in a professional manner.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex administrative, personnel, and organization problems.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to re-locate within 60 miles of PBCI Tribal Offices (Atmore, AL).
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and an insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
- Ability to travel and participate in training as recommended to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs.
- Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position.
