WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide overall leadership for all electrical work and asset reliability at our facility and farms. The Sr. Electrical Manager will lead the team to apply electrical theory and related knowledge to drive continuous improvement and develop procedures/processes on electrical and control systems as well as implement new methodologies with projects and planned plant outages. Additionally, lead sustainable strategic energy management projects/technologies to generate cost savings and reduce carbon footprint using energy reduction methodologies.
- Provide overall leadership and direction to the team for reliability with all electrical work and equipment at the facility and farms
- Interview and evaluate prospective candidates. Facilitates personnel development, conducts performance evaluations, counsel’s employees, takes corrective actions (such as required), and ensures employees comply with company policies and procedures
- Manages the reliability workforce, develops succession plans, skills assessments, and training
- Works with outside contractors as needed, to develop and execute projects and semi-annual plant shutdowns, etc.
- Oversee the department and monitor the overall reliability of completed work, backlog, and priorities
- Oversee and troubleshoot process control systems including major and minor electrical malfunctions of equipment. Support identifying faulty components and ability to replace such components in a rapid, safe, and efficient manner
- Lead and develop electrical team competency with troubleshooting 120/480 VAC motor control circuits, including motor testing, variable speed drives and soft-start from motor condition diagnosis to PLC control
- Manage the preventative maintenance plans of electrical systems including servicing motors, transformers, control panels, and changing relays, etc.
- Competent with understanding electrical schematics and blueprints
- Understand and coordinate the distribution of I/O as well as the location of field devices driven by such
- Analyze downtime events to determine mode of failure and implement sustainable countermeasures using RCFA/FMEA methodologies
- Support the quality of and progress of the department’s work, ensuring that production requirements are satisfied. Works closely with Plant/Project Managers to resolve any existing of forecasted opportunities impacting schedule performance, and productivity
- Monitor and enforce proper Lock-out/Tag-out, Arc, Flash safety, and other safe work practices for the department
- Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Support/oversee the commissioning of new equipment installations
- Instill in electrical team a safety-first mindset. Work closely with the Safety department to take a proactive stance with safety
- Monitor and respond as necessary to radio/phone calls in a quick and respectful manner
- Develops and controls the electrical department budgets that provide for optimized spending to achieve the agreed upon capacity and asset reliability
- Examine latest technologies to develop a strategic plan to optimize/reduce electrical consumption
- Assist with the commissioning of new equipment installations. Support capital projects as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School/GED or ten years’ experience in related field or combination of both education and experience
- Ten plus years recent industrial experience in a manufacturing or processing facility, including strong managerial experience
- Must possess a demonstrated high degree of tact in dealing with both plant staff and other department personnel
- Excellent analytical skills with Microsoft Office and Excel, including CMMS experience
- Strong background in Food Processing, electrical troubleshooting, installation, construction and safety
- Possess a valid driver's license and clean DMV record
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Understand and maintain site compliance and current with laws and regulations involving NEC, OSHA, NFPA
- Ability to develop new and more efficient ways to optimize electrical usage
- Ability to develop and enhance the department's processes necessary to achieve and sustain a proactive and reliable conditions
- Motivate employees and lead a proactive culture which fosters open communication and trust that values reliability, efficiency, and effective life cycle asset management
- Foster a culture that does not tolerate equipment failures and seeks to understand and eliminate the causes using techniques such as Root Cause Analytics (RCA)
- Experience with high voltage, substation/switchgears, UPS, generators, lighting circuits/voltages, grounding systems, and electrical hazard evaluations
- Proven ability to perform in a managerial capacity
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to promptly respond and prioritize outages; days/nights/weekends
- Pro-active mindset with the ability to apply common sense and good judgment
- Competency with NEC guidelines
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative team environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining good working relationships with other departments, contractors, etc. to support team and company objectives, with a willingness to work in all areas in the facility and farms
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4-year Degree in Industrial Electrical, Engineering or a related field
- Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
- Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality, reliability, or maintainability.
- The ability to perform complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions and present the justification to management in a high-level review.
- Experience with fast-track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Environmental exposure –cold/wet conditions (40 ° or below/subzero temperatures), will work in the warehouse building and, in all plants (indoor and outdoor)
- Exposure to mechanical parts that vary in temperature from freezing hot temperatures in excess to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- Exposure to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical current, and chemicals
- Support weekends and holidays as needed
- Occasional sitting, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and stretching, walking as job requires.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
- 1st Shift (6:00am-3:00pm) Monday through Friday. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
