The Role

The Senior Lead Engineer will oversee and manage an out of band Data Communication Network (DCN) that allows network devices to be monitored by the Network Operation Center (NOC).

Security Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly
  • Must maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified information (applicants selected will be subject to a government security re-investigation)

The Main Responsibilities

  • Engineer the Data Communications Network (DCN) that supports network management connectivity between Cisco MSPP, MSSP, MSTP, Cisco Flex optical platforms, and DC power system
  • Evaluate and refine tools to collect IP performance metrics analysis collected from the Cisco network management servers
  • Configure and maintain software on all Cisco network management routers and switches for all moves, adds and changes in the network
  • Provide Tier 3 engineering support to the Network Operations Center (NOC)
  • Maintain Cisco network management servers including Cisco Transport Manager (CTM) software updates and backups
  • Evaluate new versions of CTM in the laboratory and make recommendation for network deployment
  • Maintain network security accreditation with appropriate customer groups
  • Develop operational procedures to enable network operations personnel to monitor and troubleshoot the DCN
  • Support the management of the DCN, Provisioning and Network Chief Engineer
  • Evaluate equipment and associated network performance, and recommend network improvements and design changes
  • Handle moderately complex engineering assignments
  • Work closely with the Government and suppliers on requirements, design, and proposal development
  • Provide functional guidance, supervision, technical support, training, and quality assurance/control as required
  • Create, update, and review technical documentation

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Engineering, technical field or equivalent work experience (eight years experience in telecommunications engineering)
  • Must have 2-3 years IP engineering experience with Cisco routers. CCNA required, CCNP desired.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges
$129080 - $215130 in these states: VA.
