Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Engineering and Construction, the Head of Engineering will manage and direct the engineering team toward its primary technological objectives, based on long-term product and profitability goals. The position is based in The Woodlands, Texas, or Downtown Houston with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Manage and supervise all engineering activities, including staff oversight; project and design engineering; research and development, any technical staff specialist activities.
  • End to end project engineering responsibilities: from initial concept definition to construction and final commissioning.
  • Setting of technical specifications, requirements, and quality standards.
  • Develop ideas and establish policy and procedures involving new products, or enhancements, while overseeing the creation and improvement thereof.
  • Initiate and track KPIs within the department.
  • Develop and direct initiatives supporting the organization including establishing units, sections and reporting relationships, to ensure all engineering goals are met; establish and implement duties, responsibilities and goals thereof.
  • Assume responsibility for technical proposal development and completion, including participation in cost estimating and analysis.
  • Assist the project management team, within the constraints of the contract, to assure delivery of quality products in a timely manner.
  • Interface between manufacturing, project management and construction to coordinate on designed products, while providing engineering expertise to other departments when needed.
  • Recruit, train and mentor staff for engineering team in all facilities; conduct employee performance reviews and recommend merit and pay increases; conduct corrective action, if necessary.
  • Ensure correct and proper technical content of all company publications and documentation.
  • Provide oversight of product improvement, when necessary, to include development and testing products/components and perform related study work.
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining the engineering budget.
  • Administers, adhere and ensure compliance with company policies, rules and quality procedures/ practices for quality control HSSE.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, refine procedures and forms, etc., and work cooperatively and jointly to provide high quality internal and external customer service.
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • At least 10 years of engineering experience with at least 5 of those in a managerial capacity.
  • Experience with Research and Development a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of designing solar, wind and Battery Storage projects.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication; interpersonal, attention to detail, organizational, time management and leadership skills.
