MARYLAND CLUB
Located within the XFINITY Center, the Maryland Club offers an exclusive private club experience, combining high-end culinary and beverage offerings with an upscale social club environment. Known for creating memorable experiences, the Maryland Club aims to provide exceptional service, from craft cocktails to warm, engaging hospitality.
THE ROLE
Under the guidance of the General Manager and Beverage Manager, this individual will be responsible for the daily bar operations at the Maryland Club, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all members and guests. The Bartender will follow a high standard of service, uphold company guidelines for cocktail preparation, and contribute to an elegant, consistent beverage program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Excellence: Follow steps of service and company guidelines for preparing cocktails and beverages to ensure quality and consistency.
Maintaining Standards: Keep a clean and organized work area, wash glassware and utensils after each use, clean up after customers, and collaborate with bar staff to maintain a tidy bar.
Guest Education: Educate guests and members about beverage options and the Maryland Club’s seasonal offerings, utilizing House Tonic training.
Promote Sales: Discuss and describe daily features, seasonally influenced items, and food pairing options to enhance the dining experience and encourage additional sales.
Transaction Management: Collect payments and operate a register accurately, ensuring proper handling of member accounts and cash.
Compliance: Check guest identification for age requirements on alcohol and tobacco purchases and monitor consumption to ensure responsible drinking.
Inventory and Display: Arrange bottles and glassware to create attractive displays that enhance guest experience and promote specific beverages.
Friendly Service: Serve customers in a personable, helpful manner, adapting to their preferences and providing a welcoming experience.
Inventory Management: Monitor bar supplies, and coordinate with barbacks for inventory replenishment as needed, and assist in monthly inventory counts.
Consistency in Craft: Mix ingredients according to drink recipes to maintain the club’s unified beverage program and deliver a consistent experience.
Creative Contributions: Create and test new cocktails with seasonally influenced ingredients to enhance the menu, collaborating with management to introduce innovative options.
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years’ experience working in high-volume F&B / bar operations
Expertise in craft cocktails and working with fresh, seasonal ingredients
Ability to multitask and deliver drink requests efficiently while maintaining consistency
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Flexible availability and reliability
TIPS certification required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
Must be able to stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
Fast-paced movement between sections of the club is required.
Must be able to lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
Occasionally required to kneel, bend, crouch, and climb.
Capable of engaging and entertaining guests, creating a tailored experience based on their preferences.
COMPENSATION
$15/hour
