The Role

Reporting to the VP, Biology, the Senior Scientist, In Vitro Pharmacology will perform in vitro pharmacology activities supporting traditional small molecule inhibitors, heterobifunctional degraders, and biologics/large molecule programs. Initially, this role will be responsible for managing CRO and other external pharmacology activities. Eventually, the role will also be responsible for developing and executing in vitro and cell-based assays in support of discovery and lead optimization programs. This is a great opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional colleagues in driving our programs to success and growing our pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • The primary responsibilities of the In Vitro Pharmacology Scientist will be to support our early drug discovery programs through the design, development and performance of in vitro and ex vivo cellular and/or biochemical assays.
  • In addition, managing CRO-based in vitro pharmacology activities.
  • Independently develop, perform, interpret, and troubleshoot a broad range of in vitro assays including immune cell profiling in blood and tissues, functional assays using cell lines and primary or cultured cells.
  • Innovate and expand our assay portfolio by identifying, evaluating, and implementing new assay technologies through literature research, academic collaborations, and adaptation from other groups within the company.
  • Effectively present internally at team and departmental meetings and externally to collaborators and scientific communities.
  • Contribute to work with external parties, including academic collaborators and CROs to create comprehensive capabilities for MoA, target validation and potency studies.
  • Write clear and concise research reports and ensure study documentation and update protocols to ELN.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD or MS in related field and 5-7 years of industry experience, including experience in pharmacology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related discipline.
  • Technical proficiency with cellular and biochemical assays including assay design, development and validation in support of immunology-based targets.
  • Proficient in cell culture and cell imaging, such as stable cell line generation and maintenance, high content imaging or flow cytometry.
  • Hands on ability to execute wet lab experiments, data processing, and ability to effectively communicate key scientific findings across the organization.
  • High attention to detail with strong data analysis and interpretive skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to work effectively as part of a cross functional team.
  • Experience in the drug discovery process, supporting discovery, lead optimization, and candidate selection and knowledge of immunology would be a plus.

The approximate salary range for this role is $155,000-175,000.
