Job Description:
Technology has never been more important for the Oregon State Legislature than it is today. Legislative Information Services continues to adapt to the current Capitol Building construction project, ensuring that Oregonians may continue to communicate with their Legislators, timely access to legislation, media services and other legislative systems. Doing so, takes a team of dedicated, diverse, and hard-working professionals committed to customer service.
Information Services is recruiting for Session Helpdesk Specialists to support their mission. Session Helpdesk Specialists are the gatekeeper to Information Services and serve as the first point of contact with the department. Helpdesk Specialists staff the IS Helpdesk as scheduled and create support tickets for customers who contact the Helpdesk requiring assistance. This position also installs, configures, and troubleshoots hardware and software for desktop, notebook, personal tablets, and cell phones. Assistance is provided over the phone, via remote assistance software, and in-person desktop support.
The Capitol Building is currently undergoing extensive renovation/construction which has required some legislative staff be relocated to off-site buildings within one block of the Capitol. Session Helpdesk Specialists work onsite at these locations. There is no remote work.
This is a limited duration position beginning in December 2024 and will end as the 2025 legislative session draws down (May-June 2025).
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The successful candidate will be skilled in:
  • Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Microsoft TEAMS and OneDrive.
  • Windows 10 operating system, including configuration, registry, driver installation, operations, and troubleshooting.
  • Personal computer and printer troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
  • Software and hardware diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Methods to communicate effectively with users with varying degrees of technical expertise to diagnose problems and work through solutions.
  • Methods to effectively communicate technical and functional information in both written and verbal form, sometimes under time sensitive conditions.

  • Two or more years supporting M365 applications in a corporate environment.
  • Two or more years supporting Windows 10 in a corporate environment.
  • Experience providing technical support over the phone, remotely and in-person.
HOW TO QUALIFY:

Associates' Degree or 2 Years of College and one (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience.
*An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate ability to perform the duties of the position may be considered.

  • The salary in this job posting reflects the base salary without contributions to the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS). Employees eligible for PERS will have their salary increased by 6.95% and 6% will be automatically be subject to a mandatory employee contribution to PERS.
