Job Requirements / Description
The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to the following:
- Managing a team of network administrators and engineers, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations;
- Fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment;
- Developing and implementing staff training programs to keep the team updated with the latest technologies and best practices;
- Working closely with other MIS departments to support overall IT strategy and projects;
- Communicating network status, issues, and initiatives to senior management and stakeholders;
- Collaborating with vendors and service providers to ensure quality network services;
- Evaluating and recommending network hardware, software, and related services to meet the needs of the department;
- Planning and executing network upgrades and expansions;
- Designing and managing all networking hardware to include, but not limited to routers, switches, VPN appliances, and network management servers;
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and policies;
- Preparing and presenting regular reports on network performance, security, and capacity planning;
- Reviewing and processing invoices for accounting;
- Preparing and managing departmental budget;
- Attending department meetings, representing MIS at other appointments, and providing updates and insights towards network-related matters.
Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology-related field, or ten years of relevant networking experience;
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCIE, CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or similar are highly desirable;
- Experience managing a team of IT professionals;
- Proven experience with network design, implementation, and maintenance;
- Proven experience in WAN, LAN, Security, data center, and ecommerce environments;
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language;
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, hardware, and software;
- Strong understanding of network security principles and practices;
- Proficiency with network monitoring and management tools;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Highly self-motivated and directed;
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment;
- Strong leadership and team management abilities;
- Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
