Job Description

The Vertex Co-op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Job Summary

The Global Security Co-op will support the Global Security Manager in the implementation of the corporation's security programs. The Co-op will work on a variety of projects and tasks and be exposed to complex corporate security initiatives and various related projects.

This is not a cyber-security role or any kind of IT related position. This is a physical corporate security position that will have system administration responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing security standards and procedures for day-to-day corporate security operations.
  • Coordinating, developing, and evaluating security programs.
  • Conducts research within Vertex and/or externally to obtain information such as best practices, operating procedures, current industry standards, systems and technology, and regulations.
  • Compiles information and analyzes feasibility, cost effectiveness, impacts to risk, or other aspects of large or complex security initiatives.
  • Participates in and may lead the implementation of special projects. Based on analysis, develops proposals for action or implementation plans as necessary and presents to management, either formally or informally.
  • Participates in physical security systems administration to include implementation, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting.

  • General understanding of security best practices and objectives.
  • Aptitude to manage competing priorities and meet expected deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills.
  • Ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Genuine interest in Corporate Security.
  • Strong work ethic, diligence and desire to learn.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently.
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • General understanding of Windows Operating Systems and strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Permanent legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Candidate must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before May 2025.
  • Candidate must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January - June 2025.
