Reporting to the Director of Finance in the SOM Vice Dean’s Office at ZSFG, the incumbent is a key member of the Finance team and provides financial, budget, and business analysis support to the Finance Manager, Associate Dean of Finance, and other division managers in the department as well as chiefs and managers in the SOM departments located at ZSFG. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of UCSF affiliation agreements, industry practices, and organizational policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Contacts are both internal and external to the department and the institution as a whole.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $85,700 - $128,600 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

This position is located in the Office of the School of Medicine Vice Dean at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG). The Vice Dean’s Office at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center provides support to the 19 UCSF Departments, approximately 2,000 FTE UCSF personnel, residents, and fellows located at ZSFG. The Vice Dean’s Office is also responsible for the management of the Affiliation Agreement ($200M), recharge operations, contracts, and general funds.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area such as Business, Accounting, Finance, Math/Statistics, Data Science, Business Intelligence, Economics, Public/HealthCare Administration, etc. and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial/accounting role
  • Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems
  • Ability to independently gather required information, organize, and perform financial analysis assignments
  • Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally
  • Proven ability to use spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports
  • Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; service orientation; critical thinking; attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment; organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to function as a member of a team
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources
