Job Description

Scope: A Scientist-Contractor will be responsible for technical support to the Neutrogena manufacturing facility and general marketed product support for cosmetic, personal care, and OTC monograph drug products. This individual will work, under supervision, in a team environment with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Product Development, Technical Transfer, Analytical Development, Microbiology, Regulatory, and Marketing Personnel.

Responsibilities

  1. Technical service support to activities related to continuous LAP manufacturing facility improvement such as executing studies to support product bulk hold time.
  2. Execute raw material stability and compatibility studies.
  3. Work collaboratively across functional groups in accomplishing the studies and implement the changes.
  4. Conduct NC/CAPA investigations, Action Plans, and Verification/Validation Activities, root cause determination.

Qualifications

  1. B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Materials/Polymer Science, Chemistry or other science discipline, 3 years professional experience; or M.S. with 0-3 years of professional experience.
  2. Extensive knowledge of Emulsion theory, design, and processing.
  3. Experience with beauty products and emulsion processes.
  4. Understanding of cGMPs and current FDA Compliance requirements is a must.
  5. Experience in developing semi-solid products or process development.
  6. A technical knowledge base of physical chemistry, chemistry, and material sciences.
  7. Experience with formulated products including emulsions, surfactants, toothpastes, suspensions, etc.
  8. Problem Solving: Proactively seek solutions; Gather and analyze information systematically; Develop alternative solutions; Think analytically and act decisively.
  9. Master Complexity: Competently handle day-to-day work challenges; Thrive in uncertain circumstances; Detail oriented and ability to work collaboratively across functional groups and handle multiple responsibilities and projects.

  12. Strong technical writing skills.
  13. Understanding of compliance both from quality and regulatory standpoint.

  15. The ability to work independently and to meet timeline schedules.
  16. Requires strong technical and communication skills.
  17. Computer literacy and full understanding of Microsoft Office.
  18. Can be acquired on the job: Site specific software required by client, SOP’s and Work Instructions developed by client.
