WTR Search is looking for a Mechanical Engineer - Team Lead Project Manager for a full MEP-FP consulting engineering firm focused on giving clients the highest quality in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Engineering solutions.
This position is the result of company growth and is REMOTE within the region of the company offices. You will need to travel to regional sites 3-4 times per month and you must reside in the Orlando, FL area.
Summary of Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in HVAC and/or Plumbing Building Systems Design
  • Expected to immediately step in to provide team leadership and project management for all design aspects of assigned projects
  • Strong understanding of the Mechanical engineering discipline and can provide immediate support for a fast-paced department
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of applicable building codes
  • Must be able to provide consultation on mechanical equipment room sizes during the appropriate design stage
  • Must have a working knowledge of AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit
  • Self-motivated, ability to learn quickly, accept responsibilities, and take on new challenges as presented
Summary of Job Responsibilities: Assist the Mechanical Team with developing and planning HVAC and/or Plumbing systems along with managing MEP design projects cross-functionally. An approximate allocation of time and effort should represent 45% Design Production, team guidance, and QAQC, 45% Project Management, design coordination and client interaction, and 10% Construction Administration.
  • Lead and manage assigned discipline design staff by providing technical guidance, coaching, and task management
  • Attend Kick-off meetings with design team, clients, and owner to develop a scope of work for projects
  • Perform site visits to determine existing conditions and document all associated systems included in scope of work
  • Provide project management from project kickoff through construction administration
  • Serve as project manager and lead cross-functional design staff to deliver MEP design projects on time
  • Convey all information required to internal stakeholders for submissions on all design deliverables
  • Ensure coordination and scope of work understanding takes place between design team and clients in all aspects of the project
  • Produce discipline design documents per scope of work and all applicable codes inclusive of performing necessary engineering calculations and equipment selections
  • Review HVAC Load & Energy calculations
  • Understand and apply concepts of CHW, HW, WSHP, variable & constant flow systems
  • Design HVAC ductwork layouts, ductwork sizing, and required equipment
  • Perform QA/QC review of all calculations of designers and provide guidance and mentoring
  • Respond to RFIs for the project, accurately review submittals, and solve installation issues as needed during construction
  • Draft, edit, and review specifications to reflect the project requirements
  • Edit and develop scope of work (basis of design) narratives
  • Attend meetings and communicate clearly and thoroughly with clients, establish their needs, and discuss designs and issues
  • Coordinate and interact with all other trades and disciplines
  • Provide engineering consultations to clients, making recommendations to improve design approaches relative to schedule, cost, and efficiency
  • Meets all deadlines as assigned
  • Attend and participate in engineering industry training, events, and/or continuing education to stay current on latest engineering concepts and technologies
Requirements:
  • Must be a degreed engineer and hold a Professional Engineering (PE) License
  • Must have at least 5 years of Project Management experience
  • Must have at least 10 years Mechanical (MEP) design experience
  • Must have proven experience leading people
  • Must be proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, & Bluebeam
