The position will be based at our Washington, D.C. area branch, located in B eltsville, MD.Internship Program start dates are: May 19, June 2, June 9, 2025.What you will do as a Siemens Smart Buildings Energy Services Energy Engineer Intern:Provide project development assistance to sell stand-alone energy service projects or development of LEED sustainable solutionsDuring this 10-week internship program, you will rotate through various departments at the local branch office, focusing on smart buildings and sustainable infrastructure60% of your time will be spent on energy engineering-related activities (learning how HVAC systems impact energy usage, energy engineering calculations, strategies for reducing building energy consumption for our customers, on-the-job training, and shadowing, etc.)40% of your time with be spent with the sales department learning how we go-to-market and sell our solutions and servicesYou may get experience rotating through our core business segments, which includes HVAC, Fire/Life Safety, Security, and Energy/Sustainability SystemsThe goal of this internship program is to develop future talent for the Siemens organization and help you identify where you may be interested in pursuing a career at Siemens post-graduationResponsibilities while working alongside current Energy Engineers, you will:Review project specifications, drawings, and project-specific documents to establish an energy efficient solution for our customersSupport facility site visits and communicate basic design concepts with outside vendors, consultants, or Siemens Project Managers as it pertains to the scope of the FIMs (facility improvement measures)Support preliminary and detailed facility audits to identify FIMs and/or opportunitiesTake or supervise equipment measurements, data logging, and equipment trending necessary to develop energy savings opportunityDirectly work with Energy Services staff with building energy simulation programs or excel spreadsheet calculations to determine project energy savings as well as analyze operational costs to identify operational savingsSupport the development of preliminary and final energy services proposalsParticipate in client meetings and presentationsRotate through other departments within the branch office to learn about how our branch organization operatesAttend virtual executive discussions and events with other interns to develop a sense of what a career at Siemens is all aboutTo apply for the Energy Services Energy Engineer Internship, candidates must meet the following requirements:Majors: Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy/Sustainability and Built Environment, Computer Science, Business AdministrationEducation: Current sophomore or junior undergraduate student pursing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityEarliest Graduation Date: August 2025Availability: Ability to work 40-hours per week for the 10-week program (May-July or June - August)Relocation: Must be willing and able to work at the location on-site and surrounding local area. There is no relocation or housing stipend for this programWork Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company or school sponsorship. This program does not support students on a Visa such as F1, J1, M1 and H1B as well as OPT/CPT.You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tabletProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook). The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
