We are looking for a Childcare Center Director for a small, well-established childcare center in an idyllic woodsy setting within walking distance to the University of Delaware.
We need an individual with an understanding of what it takes to run a business but who also has compassion and endless patience for the needs of all the various individuals involved: parents who are nervous but also under difficult demands from work, staff who love what they do in spite of low compensation and benefits, and of course the lovely, curious, brilliant, happy/sad, enigmatic, and sometimes challenging children we serve.
Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of a non-profit business, including but not limited to:
- Tours, intake of children, paperwork regarding child files
- Hiring and scheduling of staff
- Daily management and supervision, including curriculum implementation
- Budgeting, bill paying, prepping invoices
- Working with bookkeeper and tax accountant by accumulating needed documents
- Maintaining positive relations with groups related to childcare
- Communicating with parents in person and in writing
- Training and continued professional development for staff and self, collaborating to identify needs of individuals, the Center, and the children
- Understanding and maintaining licensing regulations
- Responsible for buying educational and housekeeping supplies
- Working with OCCL on licensing requirements and preparing center for annual certification
- Working with the Board on policy and budget
- Maintaining Center quality standards
- Overall, must have a strong belief in and desire to fulfill our mission statement
Education and Experience
Must be certified by the state of Delaware and DOE with Early Childhood Administrator with Specialized Training Credentials in at least Administration and Infant/Toddler. Must have at least two years of experience in teaching and preferably one as a supervisor, preferably in a Delaware center.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
