Position Summary:
At Alila Hotels, a Hyatt Hotels brand, we believe our guests select our luxury resort because of our caring and attentive colleagues who are focused on providing efficient service and meaningful, surprisingly different experiences. As a member of the Executive Committee, the Director of Sales and Marketing is a highly visible role with exposure to Resort Ownership and Corporate leadership. This position reports to the General Manager.
The Director of Sales and Marketing oversees the Sales, Marketing, PR and Events teams. The Director has responsibility for top line revenue budget and expense P&L for their lines. Contributions to revenue forecasting, advertising, marketing, public relations, developing, and writing business plans, and ownership engagement. Hires, manages & trains subordinate managers & employees. The ideal candidate will have strong motivational leadership skills, a keen eye for detail and previous luxury hotel experience. This position's salary is offered from a range of $145,000 - $155,000 depending on experience.
Position Responsibilities and Functions:
- Design, implement, and facilitate the annual marketing plan for the hotel, identifying challenges throughout the booking cycle and developing a plan with tactics to address concerns.
- Develop group and events marketing materials and strategic revenue plan for the hotel, ensuring implementation and overseeing execution.
- Direct leadership of the marketing, communications, and agency partners.
- Responsible for developing strategy, deploying, determining, and achieving budgeted revenue across Group and Consortia room revenue market segments and Event (F&B) revenue.
- Attract, retain, and acquire new customers. Expand client base through prospecting, marketing, and cultivating key relationships with community and business partners.
- Attend major travel, trade and corporate functions and conduct sales trips based on business priorities, which may include travel on weekends and evening events.
- Interact with the operation team to ensure understanding of guest needs and create a working relationship within all areas of the operation.
- Manage all areas of Catering and Convention Services, including creation and pricing of Banquet menus, identification, and implementation of sustainable practices in meetings and events, curating experiences for group and event customers.
- Manage the completion of administrative tasks in sales and events systems.
- Recruit, hire, and successfully onboard and train colleagues as needed in Sales and Events.
- Protect the hotel’s legal and financial interests through proper contract and risk management practices.
- Coach colleagues to support luxury standards that reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures.
- Top Line revenue Goals as measured against the annual budget;
- Profit performance as measured against the annual budget;
- Achievement of Resort Level goals set annually.
Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications:
- Sales experience in hotel, airline, or travel related industry is preferred.
- Seasonal resort, leisure transient, and group incentive market experience highly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and time management skills.
- Proven sales experience with the ability to lead, guide and achieve revenue goals.
- Ability to use analytical data to create a sales strategy with a results-driven approach.
- Strategic orientation with the know-how to problem solve under pressure.
- Proven record of agile leadership style and approach.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and TravelClick Suite of reports.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
Teamwork: Fosters collaborative relationships with other assistant leadership committee and department heads in the hotel to effectively implement a wide range of service strategies.
Oral and Written Communications: Communicates effectively at all levels both verbally and in writing; responds appropriately to verbal and non-verbal cues; can succinctly get messages across that have the desired effect. Educates team members on the service strategies and trends of the luxury hotel competitive set.
Leadership: Matches leadership style to the needs of individuals and teams; delegates and provides guidance and coaching accordingly; anticipates and quickly addresses skill or behavioral gaps before they create performance issues; identifies and recognizes good performance; does not tolerate poor performance and works quickly to get employees back on track.
