Position: Event Educator

Position Summary:
The Event Educator's role is critical to delivering our mission. An Educator's primary responsibility is to enhance the guest experience at the aquarium. Educators will interact in a positive and pleasant manner with Loveland Living Planet Aquarium (LLPA) visitors of all ages and backgrounds. They will deliver engaging, high-energy and accurate educational presentations and impromptu interactions to ensure all guests receive a memorable, world-class experience while visiting LLPA.

Education and Experience
- Experience interacting with children, small groups and/or large audiences, and the ability to adapt programs to audience age level and size.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills: MS Office, email, internet research, etc.
- Experience working in a similar guest-related industry such as hospitality, performing arts, teaching, or zoo/aquarium and museum interpretation preferred.
- College degree preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Possess superior customer service skills and willingness to go beyond expectations to create a fun and safe environment for guests (and staff alike) of all ages and backgrounds; Skills include: spoken, written, and visual communication skills; active listening; and understanding guest needs and using appropriate judgement to fulfill those needs.
- Ability to approach and engage guests and strike up conversations.
- Have a passion for learning and communicating with others in a dynamic and evolving work environment.
- Great work ethic: show up on time, maintain a professional work attitude, communicate clearly with supervisors, take direction well, ask questions, collaboration, and other characteristics that contribute to a high-performing team of educators.
- Interact with guests in a positive and pleasant manner that enhances their experience.
- Deliver extraordinary, world-class educational programs and interpretation designed to inspire an appreciation for science and the natural world.
- Understand, support, and share with others LLPA's mission, vision, and purpose.
- Monitor guests and animals to ensure animal welfare, guest and staff safety.
- Assist in maintaining a fun and clean working environment; ensure all areas of the Aquarium are kept clean, organized and hazard free.
- Upon completion of training:
- Perform as a highly skilled interpreter and educational guide for people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Be knowledgeable about the creatures, ecosystems, and the educational and conservation programs we deliver in each gallery, outdoor plaza, and virtual educational program.
- Prepare, manage and utilize presentation supplies and materials appropriately.
- Assist in educational events and additional programs as needed, including, but not limited to evening events that run as late as 11:30 PM.
- As assigned, help facilitate programming in other aspects of the Education department, including but not limited to School Programs and Youth & Family Programs.
- Positively represent LLPA in all aspects of the role, with guests, and at all events.
