Founded in 2017 by 3 industry experts with experience at Fortune 500 companies, including American Express and Capital One, Extend is headquartered in Manhattan and has recently raised $40m in venture capital from top fintech investors. With extreme monthly growth and 80+ mission-driven employees, now is prime time to join our team!
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Fullstack Engineer at Extend, you will have the opportunity to build and own an evolving and forward-thinking web application. At Extend, you will:
- Architect and build: Build and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code across both the front-end and backend.
- Collaborate: Work with product and design counterparts to help clarify requirements, identify product goals, and scope new features in order to deliver value to our customers.
- Advocate: Identify areas of improvement in our codebases or processes to ensure we’re efficiently delivering new features while maintaining the long term quality of the product.
- Mentor: Provide mentorship and guidance to other engineers on best practices, application performance, and code maintainability via pairing, guild meetings, and code reviews.
- Lead: Guide technical discussions, influence decision making within the team, and motivate the team to deliver high quality work.
- Take ownership: Demonstrate an owner's mindset about the product and take responsibility for the overall quality of the platform and how we work together as a team.
THE CANDIDATE
We’re looking for someone who fits the following criteria:
- Track record: At least 4 years of professional experience as a software engineer working in Agile environments, delivering features on time and in scope.
- Technical expertise: Experience building RESTful APIs (preferably in a statically typed language backed by a Postgres database) and building user interfaces with TypeScript and React. Experience with Kotlin or the Java ecosystem is a plus.
- Product thinker: Care for the end user experience and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including product and design. The ability to weigh tradeoffs between building robust features and delivering value to our users quickly.
- Collaborator: Experience coaching junior developers on code quality, best practices, and process. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
