The Circuit Civil department is seeking a Court Specialist IV to join their dynamic team at the front counter. In this role you will have the opportunity to learn more about the legal documents that are filed in Circuit Civil cases and how they are vital to the progression of the case, gain knowledge on legal terminology and legal jargon, and more importantly be a part of someone's very special day by performing wedding ceremonies in our beautiful Lilly Pulitzer marriage room!

Examples of Essential Functions
  • Assists Court Specialist Lead and management team with quality control overall departmental efficiency and procedural development as needed
  • Assists with the training of new front counter employees
  • Assist with Vital Statistics Report and other Marriage License related reports
  • Screens indigency applications; determines whether to grant deny or refer to the Court
  • Processes new cases including multiple case types and transfers from other courts/venues; collects applicable fees; assigns case types; indexes parties and associating attorneys; handles specialized processes/procedures
  • Processes marriage licenses; generates and issues licenses; performs marriage ceremonies for all customers; cashiers related fees; records licenses into the Official Records
  • Issues and processes summons and other documents; cashiers related fees
  • Processes car personal property bonds surety bonds and cash appearance bonds; screens paperwork for sufficiency; issues bond forfeiture judgments; issues certificates and certified copies
  • Processes Judicial reassignments/recusals; updates system; issues notice of reassignment; notifies newly assigned Judge and parties/counsel of the change
  • Processes and issues Foreign Subpoenas
  • Processes bail bond agent registrations
  • Issues certified copies
  • Administers Oath
  • Assists customers in person and by phone

Typical Qualifications
High school diploma (or GED), supplemented by five (5) years of recent and relevant experience that demonstrates the ability to accurately apply acute attention to detail in maintenance of detailed data, preferably in an automated systems environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Some vocational or college courses preferred. Once qualified, deputization may be required to perform the assigned functions.
