CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS ADULT PROGRAM
Stanford University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences anticipates 10 - 15 openings for post-doctoral fellows in its APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Fellowship Adult Program for the 2025-2026 academic year. Our fellowships are designed for those seeking careers in clinical practice settings.
Anticipated start date is September 4, 2025.
Stanford offers postdoctoral training in one of the following three tracks:
1) Adult Subspecialty Psychotherapy, 2) Pain Management and 3) Behavioral Sleep Medicine
1) Adult Subspecialty Psychotherapy - 8-10 openings are projected in the Stanford Adult General Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology Division subspecialty psychotherapy clinics, which provide training in evidence-based treatments for adults with a wide range of presenting problems.
The Adult Subspecialty Psychotherapy track offers specialized psychotherapy training in the following clinics:
- ADAPT Clinic: Mood and Anxiety
- ADAPT Clinic: OCD and related disorders
- Stanford Sport Psychiatry and Psychology Program
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Clinic
- Eating Disorders Clinic
- INSPIRE Clinic: CBT for Psychosis
- PTSD Clinic
- Addiction Medicine Dual Diagnosis Clinic
- La Clinica Latina: focusing on treatment of Latin American and Hispanic identifying individuals
- SMHART Clinic: focusing on treatment of Asian-identifying individuals
- THRIVE Clinic: focusing on treatment of LGBTQ+ identifying individuals
- Couples and family therapy (limited opportunities)
2) Pain Management - One to three openings are projected in the Stanford Pain Management Division . Specialized training includes: interventional and implantable device assessments; and cognitive behavioral, acceptance, mindfulness, and biofeedback based therapies used in both individual and group based settings, for a wide variety of pain conditions. Fellows are provided medical, psychiatric, and behavioral didactics focusing on the role of biopsychosocial factors in the treatment of chronic pain conditions including onset, maintenance, and treatment of pain conditions in the context of a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and collaborative training environment. In addition to outpatient experiences, fellows will have the opportunity to observe the only inpatient, academic, chronic pain management unit in the United States.
3) Behavioral Sleep Medicine (BSM) - Two to four openings are projected for fellows to receive focused training in Behavioral Sleep Medicine, which specializes in non-pharmacologic treatments of insomnia and other sleep disorders. Training is provided in two separate BSM training tracks: a) Sleep and Circadian Health Program and b) Sleep Health and Insomnia Program.
Applicants can apply to one or both training programs.
Stipends are $71,650 plus generous benefits. Start date is anticipated to be 9/4/2025.
Appointments are for one year. Positions are contingent upon funding.
REQUIREMENTS : All applicants must have completed:
- APA- or CPA-accredited graduate programs in clinical or counseling psychology
- APA- or CPA-accredited internships
- all requirements for their Ph.D. or Psy.D prior to beginning their appointment.
