On-site: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Moraine, Ohio on a full-time basis.

The Role:

As a Quality Launch Lead , you will have Supervisory responsibility for a medium/large group of employees in the implementation and execution of the established business process for an area in the production operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Possess the ability to deal with complex problems. Supervise a medium to large group of salaried employees involved in multiple departments/processes. May manage across multiple shifts.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain awareness of quality standards, communicate department quality goals, and leverage resources to address quality issues.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with employees, union representatives, and management.
  • Thoroughly understand and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union.
  • Install quality system for overall operations of the facility.
  • Track launch activities from installation to qualifications to steady state production.
  • Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment.
  • Participate in the selection of new employees and train, develop, and evaluate salaried and hourly employees, and the development of highly effective teams.
  • Lead Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments and serve as lead resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas.
  • Meet or exceed production cost schedule and maintain quality requirements.
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety, and housekeeping.
  • Motivate, train, and develop employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods.
  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training).
  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements.
  • Coach, teach, counsel, and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a quality field within a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of statistical processing.
  • Previous experience with launch in a manufacturing environment.

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Exposure to MQRR (Manufacturing Quality Readiness Review).
  • RedEx, Shainin exposure.
  • Exposure and understanding of internal combustion engine operation and function.
