POSITION SUMMARY
The Controller shall ensure the day-to-day management of Transform Energy Inc. consistent with Transform Energy's policy and procedures, generally, accepted accounting principles and requirements of federal, state, and local governmental agencies. The Controller shall oversee and maintain all fiscal operations for Transform Energy including oversight of accounting, annual budget, financial statement preparation and presentation, payroll processes, prevailing wage requirements, audits, tax reporting, purchasing, financial analysis, and other duties as required.
***This position may involve a mix of on-site and remote days, typically, within the same week. The onsite location is Escalon, CA.***
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Hands on A/P, A/R, payroll, and other accounting support tasks.
  • Hands on month end close including bank recs, Balance Sheet recs, general ledger adjustment and analysis, including depreciation, accruals, and other close tasks.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
  • Cash flow planning and analysis.
  • Monitor job milestones, deferred revenue, and interoffice receivables and payables.
  • Monitor A/R and A/P aging reports ensuring timely payments and timely collected A/R.
  • Review and process payroll including prevailing wage payroll in a timely and accurate manner and ensure that the various governmental payroll reporting forms are completed
  • and submitted as required, including the State DE 1, Quarterly 941 and Quarterly State Unemployment Insurance Report, Certified Payroll reports.
  • Accumulate data for the annual tax filings for the corporation and oversee preparation of the annual 1099's for contracted services.
  • 401k management through 5500 annual filing support.
  • Use tax, business licenses and other state filings as required.
  • Engage CPA firm on projects and annual tax returns.
  • In collaboration with the executive team, prepare the budget, anticipating expenses and revenues; closely monitor the annual budget.
  • Provide support to Transform Energy team members.
  • Develop a sound business case for future spending decisions and recommend budget adjustments as needed.
  • Develop policies and procedures for month end reconciliations that support financial statements.
  • Develop foundational corporate policies for Finance departments.
  • Manage bookkeeping for multiple entities.
  • Make fair decisions based on facts and sound values and investigate complaints and recommend appropriate corrective action in a timely manner.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and fiscal management and reporting and thorough understanding of appropriate use of resources in accordance with Transform Energy's policies.
  • Knowledge of contract preparation, management, and monitoring practices and procedures.
  • Thorough working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, auditing techniques and budget preparation and monitoring procedures.
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a well thought-out easily understood manner, both orally and in writing in a variety of settings and styles;
  • Ability to communicate in an honest, direct and professional manner, relating well to others to build rapport and effective relationships.
  • Ability to demonstrate active listening by asking clarifying questions, identify and share relevant information and solicit feedback from others and give and receive feedback objectively.
  • Ability to model a strong commitment to quality and cost-effective administration.
  • Gather appropriate level of data and conduct thorough analysis to make sound decisions.
  • Ability to promote fiscal responsibility by making timely recommendations for budget modifications based on actual expenditures and revenue.
  • Ability to identify and recommend improvements to fiscal performance procedures.
  • Experience with various software packages, including Sage 100 Contractor, Quickbooks, Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, fiscal management, payroll programs and ability to recommend and implement improvements/upgrades to these software packages.

Education and Experience
Education :
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field. CPA/CMA, PHR/SHRM-CP a plus.
Experience : The individual selected must have three years of management level experience in budget preparation, contract administration and/or accounting, ideally in a construction environment managing the work of others. The incumbent must have experience in accounting and/or fiscal management.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and present reports.
