Job Requirements / Description

The Head Fly Operator assists in all of shows and events that require the use of the Hemp House Fly Rail at the Moore theatre in Seattle. The shows and events include large Theatrical shows, Fine Arts, corporate events, dance, community events and musical acts among others. The responsibilities include working with the Stage Manager to ensure the safe operation of a Hemp House single purchase counterweight system, operation of a Pin Rail, running and supervising of local crews, working with other stage departments to complete the needs of the show. Must be able and willing to work with all departments in the theater for types of varying shows. Pay range for this position is $35 - $40 per hour. This is a full-time position with medical, dental, vision, ltd, std insurance coverage, 403b with discretionary match, paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Must have working knowledge of a Hemp House Fly system / Arbor moves
  2. Ability to work from an elevated position
  3. Extensive working knowledge of the dynamics of rope, weight, and rigging
  4. Be able to advance tech. Info/Venue specs. To outside tours and venders
  5. Demonstrated attention to details
  6. Chain hoist maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Ability to work with a team in all aspects of interaction (house crew, Local over hire Crew, Road Crew, and Clients)
  2. Ability to advance rigging needs with touring production in a timely and professional manner.
  3. Ability to lead a crew of varying sizes
  4. Ability to adapt to changing priorities of a show and fluctuating schedule in a positive manner
  5. Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted
  6. Ability to work a safe and predictable manner under stressful conditions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Vision - corrected vision close to 20/20 is necessary.
  2. Sitting/Standing/Walking - about 90% of the time is spent standing and walking.
