The Accounting manager is expected to accurately and timely record the financial transactions of the organization and adhere to GAAP. This includes reviewing and analyzing finances, ensuring compliance with regulations and refining reporting documentation. This is all performed while verifying the integrity and accuracy of financial operations, safeguarding organizational assets and developing efficient business processes to record revenue. The accounting manager is also responsible for overseeing certain contracts as they relate to financial reporting, leading strategic planning for accounting policies and maintaining internal controls over financial transactions.
Responsibilities
- Managing the general accounting function.
- Develop accounting organizational strategies by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction, establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives, while maintaining and enhancing internal controls.
- Oversees the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements including fixed assets with a significant knowledge of ASC842.
- Evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes, ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Leads and directs the work of others.
- Executes monthly, quarterly and yearly tax filings.
- Minimizes legally required taxes by studying regulations; presenting tax strategies to management; filing returns.
- Accomplishes department and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Requirements
- Prior experience with owning and enhancement ERP AAI (Automatic Accounting Instructions)
- Working knowledge of Accounting and Payroll software and systems such as JDE /UKG Pro.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Prior experience as the sole lead on year-end audits including preparing information for audits.
- Strong organizational skills, flexibility and the ability to set priorities.
- Work accurately with close attention to detail.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline required.
- Designation of CPA preferred.
- At least 7+ years of experience in the field of accounting.
- Knowledge of GAAP.
- Experience with Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable/including cash posting.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with MS Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Oracle JDE Software knowledge a plus.
Physical Needs
- Retrieve and file documents from floor level to six feet in height on as much as two hours duration.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Able to maintain files from floor to six feet elevation.
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
